I have something to tell you...

Announcing a new two book special by me, Emma Gannon, including a free virtual workshop and special intro from Julia Cameron, author of The Artist's Way. **Books are only on sale until midnight on June 4th** Get yours here: poundproject.co.uk/shop/a-year-of-nothing It's been a year since I last posted on this podcast. Sometimes it’s all a bit too much. Have you considered doing nothing about it? For years, I have written about work, wellbeing and productivity. Then I was struck down by chronic burnout and could barely get out of bed. Something had to change. So I bring you: A Year of Nothing, a moving account of why I had no choice but to switch off, go underground, and find joy and wisdom in mundane pleasures. Split over two books and four seasons, I write about dog borrowing, dopamine dressing, learning how to swim (again), choosing to be child free, tuning into nature and much more. Every purchase of this memoir includes three exclusives: - A foreword by The Godmother of creativity Julia Cameron. - Five beautiful A6 prints by artist and illustrator Georgia-Maia Oliphant, one for each season and one just for you (pictured). - An invite to a virtual event on July 4th, where Emma and TPP founder JP Watson will host a Q&A and workshop the book’s central question: when you've worked out how to do the most, how do you learn to do nothing? ** Print books will be published on June 12th ** If you would prefer just to buy the digital edition please click here. 2. The Success Myth Diaries #2: Sian Clifford on Fame

The Success Myth Diaries #2: Sian Clifford on Fame

To accompany the launch of my new book, I have interviewed some of my favourite thinkers on the topic of success, failure and creativity — and the most common success myths. Today’s guest is British actor Sian Clifford, probably best known for playing Claire in Fleabag (the toilet scene! The hair scene! The “the only person I'd run through an airport for is you” line! *chefs kiss*) I have re-watched both seasons of Fleabag so many times and it is Sian who I am totally mesmerised by the most each time. She is also a treasured friend of mine (we’ve seen each other through a lot) and I was so lucky that she even agreed to read the audiobook for my first novel Olive, in the middle of a lockdown, no less!) I am a fan of her work on screen but it’s her writing that also has me feverishly wanting more. I am loving her creative love affair with her Substack, rebooting her project Still Space (first born back in 2015) where she communicates passionately and poetically about culture, art, books, stillness and creativity. I encourage you to have a read. Here Sian discusses her three success myths: the ‘then and when’ theory, the myth of busyness and the myth of perfectionism. Also, how winning a BAFTA doesn’t actually mean you’re on Cloud 9 forever — life and pressures continue on in other ways — aka the arrival myth, which she generously shares with us. The Success Myth Diaries #1: Chelsea Fagan on Money

Welcome to the Success Myth Diaries! A brand new mini-series to accompany my new book The Success Myth: Letting Go Of Having It All which is out TODAY. My book unpicks the 8 success myths, from happiness to money to productivity to celebrity to the idea of ‘arriving’, looking at all the different ways traditional success is marketed to us and how it can take us off track to what really makes us personally fulfilled. To celebrate I am interviewing a selection of people I admire about what success means to them, and I’ve asked them to come with their three ‘success myths’ that we will unpick together. Today's guest is Chelsea Fagan, a writer, home cook, and the founder of The Financial Diet, and author of debut novel A Perfect Vintage. She is currently on the road from “absolutely terrible with money” to “pretty good with money" and in this episode we talk about Chelsea's three success myths: Myth #1: Endless money will make you happy / Myth #2: Traditional publishing is the only way to feel successful / Myth #3 The four-day week doesn’t work. *To listen early and have an ad-free experience, sign up to my Substack page The Hyphen: https://thehyphen.substack.com/ Order A Perfect Vintage here: https://www.aperfectvintagebook.com/ Explore The Financial Diet here: https://thefinancialdiet.com/ Follow: My Substack page, come and say hi: https://thehyphen.substack.com/My books: https://uk.bookshop.org/contributors/emma-gannonBooks mentioned on Ctrl Alt Delete podcast: https://uk.bookshop.org/lists/books-mentioned-on-ctrl-alt-delete-podcastTwitter: Twitter.com/emmagannonInstagram: Instagram.com/emmagannonuk Hosted on Acast.
