Stuck in the Daily Pit? How to Reach the Peak Every Morning

In this episode of Nature Fit Family, Brett dives into the daily journey of growing into a more present and fulfilled parent. Brett reflects on the concept of the “pit to peak” from Garrett J. White’s teachings, exploring how each day holds challenges (the pit) and opportunities for growth (the peak). Through his own story, Brett inspires listeners to intentionally break free from cycles that keep them from reaching their best selves—whether it’s a morning habit, reducing distractions, or simply taking five minutes to set a positive tone for the day.   Key Takeaways: Recognize the Daily Pit-and-Peak Cycle Life’s daily demands—like chores, childcare, and work—often keep us in the “pit.” Realizing this cycle is key to finding moments of growth, even within daily routines. Start a Mindful Morning Routine A morning routine, even if brief, can be transformative. Brett encourages listeners to start small, such as his Five Minutes at Sunrise practice, to shift focus towards growth and intentional presence for loved ones. Limit Early-Morning Distractions Checking social media or emails upon waking can negatively impact our mindset for the entire day. Brett advises limiting these distractions to avoid starting the day with added stress or anxiety. Embrace Flexibility and Self-Compassion Not every day will be perfect, but choosing how to respond to challenges can set an example for children. By working to overcome these obstacles, parents can grow into stronger, more resilient role models for their families.   Click here to get your copy of the Nature Fit Family Well-being Checklist Follow me on Instagram and join the adventure! How Simple Food Choices Can Transform Your Family’s Wellbeing

In this episode of NatureFit Family, Brett dives deep into the importance of managing personal health to create a balanced, resilient family. Amidst the uncertainty of the election, Brett emphasizes the power of taking control over what we can—our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being—to lead our families with strength and presence. He shares insights on “diet” as more than just a restrictive eating plan but as a holistic approach to nourishing our bodies, with examples from his own journey with weight management and optimal nutrition. He encourages listeners to explore healthier food choices, like complete proteins to support both personal vitality and a positive family legacy.   Key Takeaways: Lead by example: Embrace holistic health practices to guide your family through life’s uncertainties. Redefine diet: Focus on a balanced, nutritious selection rather than restrictive eating. Explore complete proteins: Consider combining plant-based sources like beans and rice to meet dietary needs. Prioritize family wellness: A healthy lifestyle fosters a strong foundation for future generations.   Link to article mentioned in show https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10623543/   The literature and meta-analyses point to an optimal diet for humans that has followed our species from the beginnings of humankind. The optimal diet is a whole food, high fiber, low-fat, 90+% plant-based diet. This diet allowed humans to become the most developed species on Earth.   All meta-analyses conducted to assess mortality showed highly significant results. Specifically, meat consumption increased mortality probability by 18% on average, plant-based diets and fiber-rich diets decreased mortality by 15% and 20%, respectively.   In addition, dairy consumption (as measured by IGF1) was found to increase the probability of cancer by about 50%, while plant-based nutrition reduced diabetes by about 27%.   To conclude the findings, a whole-food, high-fiber, plant-based diet consisting mainly of whole grains, legumes, USOs, nuts, seeds, and fruits, with reduced quantities of meat and dairy products, has been statistically proven to prevent most modern-day diseases while supporting the growing population healthily and sustainably.   Click here to get your copy of the Nature Fit Family Well-being Checklist Follow me on Instagram and join the adventure!
