002: Jessica Oei, Full Stack Web Developer

“There’s no secret sauce to overcoming imposter syndrome, or feeling like you know how programming or web development works. It’s honestly just grinding it out year after year.” Today we have Jessica Oei who is a Full-Stack Web Developer. She was in a rut, and feeling directionless in life. Most of her jobs had been temporary office jobs, and she couldn’t seem to find her way out. By chance, she ended up in a data entry job off of Craigslist. Along with the data entry, they trained her in some programming. Almost seven years later, she can look back at her past self and see how far she’s come. From getting over the hump of feeling incredibly inadequate and terrified of being “found out”, to feeling confident that she has the skills to learn anything new that she put her mind to. Find her on Instagram @thecodercoder and over at Medium with the same handle. Also, make sure to visit her website coder-coder.com for more tips on how to get better at coding.   --------------------------------------------------------  Find us on Facebook and Instagram @smalltalktech, on Twitter @bottalktech, and over at www.smalltalktech.com Small Talk Tech is a podcast series focused on interviewing people who work in various technology fields. From beginners learning their craft to masters at the highest level of proficiency, I believe that everyone has something profound to share.
