Rejection Won’t Kill You - What it Means + How to Deal With It

Ever thought about pitching your “this is going to shatter the glass ceiling” idea to a big tech company, inviting that cutie on Bumble out for mini golf, or asking for a raise at the job you’ve been at for 7+ years and DEFINITELY deserve one… but the idea of rejection made you wince? Same. But I’m alive. Rejection didn’t kill me. So I’m here to tell the tale of how I cope with rejection professionally and walk you through several celeb stories - and how we wouldn’t be able to experience their genre-changing art or mind-bending music or industry-leading apps if they let rejection deter them. You’ll hear stories about Britney Spears, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Queen, the founder of Calendly, Tope Awotona, and myself, and how rejection only became fuel to lead us to success. I also challenge you to reflect on your own experiences with rejection and how they've shaped your path. Remember, sometimes rejection is just redirection to something even better. Corny but true! If you found value in this episode, please share it with a friend or leave a comment on Spotify. I'd love to hear your stories of rejection and what came after—you can DM me on Instagram @chelseariffe or email me at info@chelseariffe.com. Shoot Your Shot (or Miss On Life's Biggest Opportunities)

246: It’s Shoot Your Shot September - didn’t you hear?! I’m taking you down memory lane to share how shooting MY shot has opened up unthinkable opportunities for myself - from being able to talk to high profile influencers, authors and creators, to jet-setting all over the world and bringing me countless business opportunities. I start out sharing how emailing Lauryn Bosstick (aka The Skinny Confidential) invoked a confidence in me that made me unstoppable. This led to a roster of marquee names in the space (Gabby Bernstein, Case Kenny, Sivan Ayla, Kenzie Burke, Jared Freid, + more), which only added to my credibility and built momentum for my show. Eventually, my podcast became the biggest driver of my business, and without shooting my shot, I’m not sure I would even be sitting here recording this episode today! By the end of this episode, I hope you shoot your shot in at least ONE area of your life - sending a direct message on Hinge, pitching that vision board guest for your podcast, or finally reaching out to that eco-friendly brand to sponsor your content. Ready to learn how to shoot your shot on podcasts? Pitch Perfect Bootcamp starts mid-October and I’ll teach you everything you need to know about booking yourself with Charli XCX confidence on other shows, platforms, and biz opportunities. Why You Should Flop, Unbothered by Copycats, and Meeting Emma Chamberlain with Poster Journal

243: Poster Journal says what you think, so you don’t have to. In this giggly but deep conversation, Chelsea sits down with Poster Journal (PJ), who has the mind of a stoic but the mouth of a snarky Gen-Zer. They talk about shooting your shot, why famous people aren’t special, constraints for creativity, PJ’s original entry in the online world, how creative ideas strike us like lightning, how no content strategy is a strategy, PJ’s frustrations with his current creative process, where his daily insane vlogs came from, how copycats (including UrbanOutfitters) don’t bother him, why giving up is easy but you shouldn’t, his fave slang words, and his obsession with Apple’s story. The History of Instagram… Time to Delete It?

242: Instagram started as a fun photo-sharing platform where we all shared photos of our chicken tenders at a sports bar, blurry nights out in bubble dresses, and sepia-toned photos of our new relationship. As the story of all social platforms go - free apps need to make money somehow. Your attention is their favorite asset. Advertisers love attention (more data points), and social apps love money (and keeping investors happy). This episode explores the history of Instagram - how did it turn into this insatiable hamster wheel? Should we get off? HOW should we get off? And what if, as business owners, the platform goes under - should we diversify our marketing efforts? Chelsea explores all the above in this in-depth episode, and walks through ways to deprioritize social media. She shares new ways of doing business online, with a heavy emphasis on relationship-building and increasing visibility through guest podcasting. Ready to pivot into more guest podcasting with Chelsea? Join the Pitch Perfect Bootcamp waitlist (VERY special surprises coming soon)! Round 2 starts August 6th. How to Stop Putting People on Pedestals (REPLAY)

241: Influencers, celebs and mega coaches are often treated as mythical Gods. We act as if they're untouchable, immune to the suffering life brings, and operate with zero worries in the world. But when we put them on pedestals, we dehumanize them. In the same vein, we make ourselves small. The automatic comparison and projection prompts self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and keeps us stuck in a constant cycle of feeling inspired, then comparing, sabotaging or worse, staying stuck and never trying at all. In today’s solo ep, Chelsea deep dives into this concept. Why do we put so much weight into social following? Why are we so quick to take IG photos as truth? Why don’t we use more discernment when making snap judgments? She also shares ways to take people off of pedestals so you can finally get out there and shoot your shot. Pitch that host. Message your fave mentor to come on your podcast. Land a dream guest interview. Your stories matter. Ready to pitch yourself on dream podcasts? Pitch Perfect Round 2 Waitlist is OPEN!
