Philippians 4:4 and not beating ourselves up

A problem I have is beating myself up every time I dip back into one of my sins ibam fighting for over a decade. But If I and we rejoice in the Lord always as we are called to in Philippians 4:4 we can defeat this bad habit. We are not to cast stones as Jesus said when questioned on the prostitute.
