    Today I interview Jason, from Political Cutz who is currently producing his Fringe Festival show, The Builder's Fringe.   Jason's career has seen him go from professional hairdresser to public art producer and performer. With an unconventional path, Jason has learnt business and performance skills that have given him an understanding of what is successful public theatre. Jason is passionate about celebrating non-arts trades in creative contexts, looking to challenge audiences perceptions of what those trades represent.     Gavin Learns - Episode 33 - Know Your Stuff NZ

    Another week another episode!    Today I interviewed KnowYourStuffNZ.    KnowYourStuffNZ is a community organisation of volunteers operating in collaboration with the New Zealand Drug Foundation to provide drug related harm reduction services at events around New Zealand, including drug checking.   I first encountered these guys at a music festival in NZ and I became really curious regarding how they operated, where they started and where they see themselves going forward.    Wendy came on to represent the organisation as the Managing Director. Wendy has been active in the field of drug policy since 2007. Educated in social policy and criminology with a focus on drugs at Victoria University, she began drug checking after the prohibition of “party pills” in 2008 when it became apparent that the now-illegal substance BZP was making its way into the illicit drug market after its prohibition. She started checking at music festivals in 2014.   If you want to learn more about the organisation, click below.     Gavin Learns - Episode 32 - Simon Sweetman

    Episode 32 is with the man himself, Simon Sweetman. Simon Sweetman is a podcaster, poet, freelance journalist and occassional musician. He currently plays in the Wellington chapter of the Ethersonic music and film project, and released his debut collection of poetry in late 2020, "The Death of Music Journalism". He is also the author of "On Song" from 2012 - a history and commentary of some of NZ's best loved songs. And he blogs every day at his website, Off The Tracks.    If you are familiar with the New Zealand music scene, you will absolutely be familiar with Simon's work.     Gavin Learns - Episode 29 - Host of FRANKLY PODCAST

    Gen is the founder of the podcast Frankly!   Frankly is a no bullshit sex education and sex advice podcast for NZ teenagers. She is a creative and social activist at heart. She ran the first March for Science and has spoken around New Zealand at science conventions on the importance of science education in the community. Not to mention her work in defending Drag Queens’ rights to do glittery shows in libraries to help educate children about diversity. She has also worked as a Marketing Consultant for over 10 years, concentrating her efforts on clients with social or environmental purpose (such as Ethique, Science Alive and InsuredHQ).     Gavin Learns - Episode 28 - A Dating Coach For Asian Men

    This episode was SUPER fun. Sebastian Yeh used to be a dating coach who specialized in helping Asian men find dates. I found Sebastian, funnily enough, on Reddit where he was hosting an 'Ask Me Anything'.
