Respondent Conditioning With a Little bit of Operant Conditioning too Jess Talks ABA

    • Onderwijs

In today's episode I take a closer look at Respondent Conditioning, also known as Classical Conditioning or Pavlovian Conditioning. I really tried my best to make it simple, but the amount of times I said the words "conditioned, unconditioned, stimulus, and response" started to make my head spin!  Today's main focus was on Respondent Conditioning with just a sprinkle of Operant Conditioning, and in my next episode I will pick up where I left off and go into more details about Operant Conditioning and review reinforcement and punishment.

As always, here is a reference for the two texts I consulted for today's episode:

Cooper, J.O., Heron, T.E., Heward, W.L. (2007). Applied behavior analysis (2nd Ed.). Upper Saddle, New Jersey: Pearson.

I use the second edition, but here is a link to their newest edition: https://www.pearson.com/us/higher-education/program/Cooper-Applied-Behavior-Analysis-3rd-Edition/PGM1784647.html

Miltenberger, R. G. (2008). Behavior modification: Principles and procedures (5th Ed.). Belmont, CA: Thomson Wadsworth Again, I have the 5th edition but Miltenberger has since released a 6th edition with revisions and updates to reflect the latest research in Applied Behaviour Analysis.  https://www.cengage.ca/shop/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10651&catalogId=10052&productId=706497
