The Rest Is Politics

These men are in a podcast class of their own; no Netherlands’ podcast does even come close (since the untimely death of professor Mathieu Segers (Café Europa)). The world needs speakers like Rory and Alastair.

Entertaining podcast from Tony Blair’s comms director and a former rising star of the Conservative party (he used to be the future once). If you like reasonable debate then this podcast is for you (hardcore Brexiteers will hate it).

I used to listen to this show weekly. Their analysis of British politics was very accurate. However, since Labour won the election, this podcast has become a mouthpiece for the new government. Any critical analysis that could possibly shed any negative light on the Labour policies has evaporated. It seems that nothing was learned from history. It became unbearable to listen to.

Very interesting, deep talks about politics. With a reasonable Tory, and a sensible Labour guy. Both ex-politics but very well informed. Generally balanced, always sensible, but interrupted now and then by Campbell’s partisan reflexes. He just cannot control himself if it is about Tory stupidities (which do deserve criticism!) or - especially - when it is about ‘Tony’ (admiringly pronounced). His name dropping can be gratuitous. The discussion about ‘Tony approving the Iraq invasion’ was sadly defensive. More emotion than content, sometimes. Anyway, it still is a very good podcast. When Campbell manages to control himself. I enjoy it, a lot. The Question Time one is a bit less good. It would be easy to get my 5 stars, obviously.
