184. “I’m Bored”
“Boredom is a defense to emotional awareness.”
-Gary Zukav
On today’s episode we are talking about boredom.
Boredom is a form of resistance. It is resistance to
becoming aware of what you are feeling. This is the ROOT of boredom.
Boredom is not right or wrong nor good or bad. Boredom is natural.
We can fall into drama roles around boredom. Boredom can be empowering, building skills such as
initiative, self-reliance, and problem-solving skills as well as creativity, curiosity, and flexibility. It also builds tolerance for discomfort.
Allowing your children to own their own boredom and find their own solutions is essential in helping them build important life skills.
In this episode you will learn how to use boredom as an opportunity and ways to respond to your child when they proclaim, “I’m bored.”

182. Part 3 - Boundaries
Today’s episode is the third part of a three-part series defining the difference between punishment, consequences and boundaries. These three
topics are often misunderstood and can become intertwined. They are, however,
very different. Today we are talking about boundaries.
Let's break it down:
Punishment – Blame. Focused on the problem.
Consequence – Support. A plan for a new outcome. Focused on solutions.
Boundaries – How I get my own needs met. Also, solution
focused.
Boundaries is all about taking ownership of my own thoughts, feelings and actions. It is about living in alignment with my truth. Boundaries require radical self-awareness. They are liberating. Boundaries put you in
control of you. Boundaries are between YOU and YOU even when they involve other people. It is not your responsibility to manage other people’s response to your
truth. It is not other people’s responsibility to maintain your boundaries.
Tune in to today’s episode to find out the truth about
boundaries.

#181 Part 2 – Effective Consequences
Today’s episode is the second part of a three-part series in
providing more clarity around punishment, consequences and boundaries.
I find that these three things can be wildly misunderstood.
I am offering this series to provide some clarity around how each of these is different. Often, we use these words interchangeably however, each carry a different energy, purpose and impact.
On this episode, we dive into effective consequences.
Key takeaways:
· A true consequence is about how one FEELS about
the impact of their choices and actions
· Effective Consequences are about taking ownership
of one’s choices and actions
· Trust must be present to take ownership
· Effective Consequences focus on solutions rather
than the problem
· Effective Consequences create problem solvers
· Effective Consequences keep self-worth in tact
· With Effective Consequences the child becomes
part of the solution
· Effective Consequences is about solving a
problem without diminishing anyone in the process
· 3 elements of Effective Consequences are:
Reflection, Make a plan, Follow-up
· 3 types of Effective Consequences are: Natural, Logical
and Problem Solving

179. Punishment, Consequences, Boundaries OH MY! What’s the Difference?
Do you find that the lines between punishment, consequences and boundaries can be blurred and confusing?
Culturally, we often change words.
However, when the lens in which we look through doesn’t change, they become intertwined. I am offering this three-part series to provide you with more clarity. Through this series you will be invited to open up to new perceptions and insights.
In this episode we will dive into punishment, what it is and
its impact.
In this episode I talk about how punishment:
· Creates shame & self-doubt
· Creates a barrier to decision making
· Creates perfectionism
· Erodes self-worth and creates the belief of not
good enough
· Creates separation and a “me” vs. “you” dynamic
· Is used for adult convenience and emotional relief
· Creates pleasers and controllers- (drama roles)
