For years, athletes and others have attempted to find ways to tap into their brains and train themselves to be stronger mentally so they can enhance their overall performance. 
Now, we have tools and technology to do that exact thing. We are going to learn about Alphabeats today on the show as the Chief Commercial Officer of Alphabeats, Jorrit DeVries, joins the podcast and shares his insight on what this technology is all about! 
We are learning about Alpha Training which is a neurofeedback training of the brain waves, and how this can impact you as an athlete. We'll hear real life examples of how this has helped the mental toughness for certain athletes who have used this in their training and how it impacts performance, sleep, training, etc.

For the last few years I've had the honor of watching Avery Howell as she took the girls basketball scene by storm as a leader for her Boise High School squad! The growth she had over the past few years was insane and to see how she handled the pressure when the spotlight was on her, was incredible. 
Her work ethic and her passion are large reasons why she found herself with the honors of being a McDonald's All-American in 2024 after her senior year at Boise, and why she will be playing basketball at USC next season! 
Avery is just one of two girls basketball players from Idaho to be named a McDonald's All-American, so you may consider taking notes on this one because she knows what it requires to get to that next level. 
From waking up early for YEARS and putting in the work. To the sacrifices required to be able to improve her game as a young high school student athlete. She has quite the story to share with us today! 
We'll hear about her preparation for the Canadian National Team as well where she competed this summer and then we'll learn more about her preparations for heading to California and why she chose USC in the first place.

Jackie Beene McBride is a BYU Women’s Basketball Hall of Famer and with that comes so many amazing stories and insights! From the diamond to the business world, Brandon Buck knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a leader and a motivator in life. From his bio on his website it reads:

Brandon played college baseball at Purdue University and has some awesome stories to share regarding his time there. He knows what it takes to compete at a high level and he knows the ups and downs that athletes as well as business owners go through in their journeys.

I first learned of Dan Hawkins when  he was the head coach for my Alma Mater, Boise State University. From 2001-2005, Coach Hawkins was leading the Broncos on their journey during their 'growth phase' from a national perspective. While that era was not the first time Boise State had tasted massive success (Coach Hawkins will be the first to tell you that Boise State  has ALWAYS been a winning program), it was a time where the media deal allowed for the Broncos to be seen on a national level. 
Ever since that time, I've followed Dan Hawkins and his journey through the coaching and broadcasting ventures he's been on. It seems that everywhere he goes, he leaves a mark! And today is a great opportunity to hear from him on his experiences. 
What was it like leaving Boise State for Colorado, where his son, Cody (who is now the head coach at Idaho State University) and having to go through the ups and downs of that time in the (formerly known as) Big 12. 
We talk about his CFL coaching experience and what it was like at the professional level with the hurdles you have to jump with the Canadian rules and strategies. 
We also chat about his experience at UC Davis, where most recently Coach Hawkins coached from 2017-2023.
