EP34: Ms. Carry (Song Review) w/ my therapist, Katrin Modabber Elevated Conversations

    • Religion & Spirituality

In episode 7 of the "Created Noble Series" of Elevated Conversations (episode 34, overall). I bring on a very special guest: my marriage counselor! Also a dear friend of mine, Katrin Modabber, was incredibly helpful to my wife Mallory and me in the early years of our marriage.

Katrin was also invaluable in assisting my wife and I with processing the deeply emotional experiences of miscarriage. There were a few key insights, particularly designating a name to the miscarried children, that were so helpful to us in making peace with the grief of losing a precious soul before they could be born into this world.

The "Created Noble" album centers on my experiences as a father,  most notably centering on my first born son, Noble.  However, in the process of writing the album, my wife Mallory and I experienced 2 miscarriages (1 before Noble, and 1 after). I wrote Ms. Carry shortly after the 2nd miscarriage. Music and writing has been a powerful way to channel my emotions, and writing the song was very therapeutic for me.

With that said,  I felt it was seemly to bring Katrin on as the featured guest for this particular episode. We discuss how we met, what brought her to Phoenix in the first place, how she got into counseling, her journey in the Baha’i Faith, and unpack the emotional and spiritual significance of miscarriage, a topic that is not often discussed very openly.

I hope you find find the interview insightful and elevating in nature!

The "Created Noble Series" of the Elevated Conversations podcast goes through my latest album, track by track,  bringing on guests who made a significant contribution to the project creatively or inspirationally.
