    Join Mandy and Leadership Wyoming alum and Board Member Leslie Shakespeare to learn about the history, government structure, and current issues facing the Wind River Reservation. 

    Leslie Shakespeare is the Acting Rocky Mountain Regional Director of Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). He has served as as the Acting Rocky Mountain Regional Deputy Director for Indian Services in 2022 and prior to that, as the BIA Superintendent at the Wind River Agency located in Fort Washakie, Wyoming since November 12, 2019. Shakespeare has been committed to bettering Indian Country throughout his career, carrying a deep respect for tribal sovereignty and the traditional and cultural values, beliefs and principles of tribal members and governments. Prior to federal service, he served as the Director of the Eastern Shoshone Tribes Juvenile Service department for eight years. He left that position to become a BIA Law Enforcement Officer committed to keeping reservations safe. After four dedicated years, Shakespeare returned to serving his Tribe and community as the Wyoming Governor’s Tribal Liaison and served as the Vice-Chairman of the Eastern Shoshone Business Council. He is an enrolled member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe.
