Take It Away: The Complete Solo Beatles Podcast

There are many podcasts out there on The Beatles and their solo output. Many of them sound like a bunch of friends sat round the kitchen table chatting (which they probably are!). There are the in-jokes, the swearing and the tangents. For the listener it’s harder to get as engaged with this content because you feel like you’re eavesdropping. The ‘Take It Away’ podcast is different. The two presenters are knowledgeable and their authoritative ‘warts and all’ analysis of McCartney’s work is a joy to listen to. The episodes are long but not packed with filler. You get the chance to hear clips from each album and perhaps the odd early take. Listening to ‘Take It Away’ has helped me to rediscover some of McCartney’s work I’d more-or-less forgotten, and appreciate even more the ones I play a lot. Highly recommended for any fan of Paul’s music.
