Santy Gutierrez - Do the work, embrace the momentum and love the journey

Santy Gutierrez - Do the work, embrace the momentum and love the journey

I met Santy on the courts of Delray Beach Tennis Center playing Pickleball. After seeing him over and over we realized we had a lot of mutual contacts, connections and shared similar stories in turning tragedy into triumph. I asked him to come on the show to share his journey of growing up in South Florida as a first generation immigrant and overcoming the challenges of young adulthood and addiction.

Santy shared of his tough childhood in trying to put on appearances in front of his friends, his parents sacrificing and providing everything and anything necessary to help him fit in. From a young age, Santy felt like he didn't belong and it led him down a path riddled with doubt, fear and eventually coping by using drugs and alcohol to numb his pain. A friends father from his childhood eventually provided some guidance and help in finding a new path which led him to learning more about his true purpose and giving back to those that struggled with the same addictions. Santy learned everting by immersing himself in his own recovery process, helping around a facility, driving vans, sweeping and working with others.

In doing so, Santy created his own business based on what he valued and loved the most; helping others and providing a safe place for people to get well and recover. What started out as a small venture grew and while there were challenges along the way with business and partners he went all in and kept going. His story embodies resilience, effort and never giving up on his dreams. He now employs many people who share his values, his family who always provided for him and continues to seek and chase after his passion of health, wellness and giving back to the community. You can check out his business at www.campusrecoverycenter.com and @campusrecovery. We hope you enjoy the show!

NADS: Why your current undergarments might be killing you

NADS: Why your current undergarments might be killing you

The South Florida fitness community is one rich with entrepreneurs, enthusiasts and go getters. I met Dan Baird through mutual friends and after having a great conversation over the phone, I invited him to jump on the podcast. Dan is the co-creator of NADS underwear which is a Certified organic non-GMO cotton created underwear product that gives your package a clean, comfortable, and healthy home and reduces harsh chemical exposure to your reproductive parts.

In speaking with Dan he shared his story about living a clean and healthy lifestyle but noticed that his testosterone was significantly low for a man of his age. It propelled him into learning more about all aspects of health and how the current clothes we wear are made with harsh chemicals, dyes, plastics and more. What was even more concerning was that most athleisure wear and his day to day clothes were the most harmful and possibly contributing to his low T. His research found that male testosterone levels have dropped significantly over the last 3-5 decades. Testosterone levels are detrimentally low amongst men of all ages.

Dan and his friend begun the journey of creating a better for you underwear that  promises to provide their customers with the healthiest underwear possible. At NADS they will always design and create products with one main focus above all else: Health.
Please enjoy the show and give their products a try. I have switched over to NADS for my day to day and while I'm sure it takes time to notices any difference I can promise you my nads have never been in a better environment. You can check out their site at www.nadsunder.com and if you have any questions you can reach Dan on his insta @dan.baird1. We hope you enjoy the show and for the love of all things good please save your nads.

THE JP HOMEGROUP: Building a brand on routine, discipline and charity.

THE JP HOMEGROUP: Building a brand on routine, discipline and charity.

I met JP through mutual friends and attended his first golf charity event benefitting Quantum House several years ago. The always smiling JP is the host with the most and always looking at ways to help, serve and benefit the community and his clients. While attending the dinner post event, his daughter spoke about the event and charity which I though was so sweet and then learned that she was in fact his business partner and soon to be finishing college at the age of 18. I was blown away and had the chance to invite them in for a podcast to learn more about what they meant.

Valentina, better known as Vale is a highly motivated, intelligent and business savvy young lady. We spoke about what motivated her to become so engaged in the business side of things at a young age and she related that she was always with her dad listening to him speak to clients, watching his interactions and absorbing it all. She jumped at the chance to take college level credits while finishing high school and even become involved in the day to day real estate market of buying, selling and managing the air bnb's.

A first in the wake up the sun show interviewing father and daughter, it was a true pleasure to learn about the dedication to routine, an intense work ethic all while not stressing about the unknown. You can learn more about the Jarred Parton group @jphomegroup or on instagram @jphoomegroupyt on YouTube. We hope you enjoy the show!

Guido Trinidad: Building Community through faith, sweat and consistency

Guido Trinidad: Building Community through faith, sweat and consistency

I had heard of Guido in the world of Crossfit for years.  Founder and creator of PEAK360 a Crossfit Affiliate gym in South Miami, Guidos name is held in high regard amongst trainers, high level athletes and the community. His passion for helping others is rooted in his belief in God, a strong faith, hard work ethic and consistency. I had the opportunity of MC'ing his Rising Tides event held at his facility prior to his other creation, WODAPALOOZA kicking off down at Bayshore Miami. Admittedly I was quite nervous walking into PEAK but was greeted warmly and felt a part of from the minute of walking through the doors.

After a successful evening I got to speaking with Guido and invited him on the show. One of my favorite things to do is travel podcast so on the eve on the Crossfit Open I drove down and spent some time learning more about Guidos story and how he grew a small gym into what it is today. He is NOT a morning person and never has been but once he gets going its doesn't stop. His morning routine is filled with God, family and focus. His week is already planned so after his morning routine he heads to the gym to surround himself with an amazing community. He spends his time coaching, training and improving other peoples lives and enrich his own in the process.

If you haven't had the chance to stop by PEAK360 and meet Guido please do so. The team and culture that he and his wife have built are incredible. You can follow along on insta @peak360fitness or @guidotrinidad. We hope you enjoy the show!

Bijan Heravi: Agency is my ministry

Bijan Heravi: Agency is my ministry

Over the years, I had heard of Bijan in the sport of Crossfit and his sports agency Ripple sports. I was fortunate enough to be the MC of the kickoff event called Rising Tides at Peak360 where I was able to introduce Bijan as one of the panelists and got to learn more. A soft spoken and thoughtful person explained his connection to the Crossfit world and his passion for getting into sports management. The following morning I joined the community for a workout and had a great conversation with him and asked him on the show.

A native South Floridian, Bijan grew up in Miami. He pursued business as well as law school to further his education. He was always into fitness, health and had some friends who were in the beginning stages of their athletic journeys. As Bijan states "God placed people into my life and relationships that brought him peace, connection and influence. As time passed and his relationships grew he was able to step into the sports agency world and encourage his closest friends to pursue and support their careers. He believes in the power of influence and has grown his agency over the last 11 years.

He shared that he also came to a crossroads where he had a lot of growing up to do. He found a connection to his community, to church and a close relationship with God where he was previously on a path of derailment. His week is filled with days dedicated to seeing his community, serving in whatever capacity he is called to and providing maximum value to his wife and clients. His agency is his ministry and he believes in creating ripples and making waves. We hope you enjoy the show and you can reach out to him on instagram @bijanheravi @ripplesports @vouxchurch or www.ripplesports.com.

Nick Urso: Father, Entreprenuer, Risk taker and more

Nick Urso: Father, Entreprenuer, Risk taker and more

I met Nick on the mean streets of Delray Beach in early 2011. We both were working in the fitness world, training clients, group training and enjoying South Florida. Our paths crossed pretty regularly but as time passes people move on or evolve into other areas of life.
Now, right around the time of Covid, Nick was training clients and began starting to go online as the gyms were closing. He always had a passion for motorcycles and when not training clients he learned how to take apart, rebuild & customize bikes.
Due to a nasty spill on his bike where fortunately he wasn’t hurt too seriously he began to look into the retail and clothing side of motorcycle wear. Nothing was chill enough to wear around where it didn’t look like you were a biker.
He and his friend familiar with the space got to work and the result was @nickyboys_toyz at www.nbtclothing.com. They are more than just a one stop shop for bike gear and culture but an expanding brand into other areas that Nick is passionate about.
We hope you enjoy the podcast and have a most triumphant day! You can reach them at www.nbtclothing.com
