What You Miss When You Play It Safe (and How to Stop)

There’s something magnetic about people who follow joy like it’s their inner compass. Anka is one of those people, and when we connected (very recently), I knew this was a conversation I wanted to have. In this episode, I chat with Anka, an ocean swimmer, traveller and German TV reporter who splits her time between Europe and Perth. We talk about what happens when you stop playing it safe and start saying yes to the things that light you up. Inside this conversation: How Anka found instant community through ocean swimming Growing up in rainy Germany and how it shaped her resilience Creating a life that follows the seasons Why you don’t need the full plan before you take the leap The joy of movement, connection and shared coffees after a swim A shared love of cookbooks, culture and pomegranates And why “goodbye” isn’t in Anka’s vocab If you're craving adventure, connection, or just know you need ‘something different’, this episode will give you that nudge to trust your curiosity and choose joy - even when it makes no sense on paper. Listen to the end to find out how to dissect a pomegranate (life hack included). And if you’re in Perth and want to check out ocean swimming, the Pod Squad meet every day at North Cottesloe near sunrise (DM me for the deets). I Feel Bad Because… But Should I Really?

Ever find yourself saying, “I feel bad because…” over things that, deep down, you know you shouldn’t feel bad about? It usually involves other people and what you think (on some level) you're doing 'wrong'. If this is you, you're in for a treat. I'm unpacking why this happensand what you can do about it. In this episode, we’ll dive into: Why so many of us (especially high-achievers) feel guilt over so many things How to unlearn guilt around personal choices (yep, totally possible) Setting boundaries without the post-no guilt spiral The difference between helpful guilt and the kind that just drags you down Why prioritising yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary The Takeaways: "Every time you're given a choice between disappointing someone else and disappointing yourself, your duty is to disappoint someone else." Elizabeth Gilbert Some guilt is useful, but unnecessary guilt? Time to let it go Try this - spend the next 24 hours noticing when you say “I feel bad because…” and ask yourself, Is this even true? Want to explore this more? Let’s chat - I offer free calls to see if coaching is the right fit for you. Listen now and start shaking off the guilt that was never yours to carry. How to Make a Mid-Life Change with Confidence (Even If It Feels Terrifying) with Ceri Hughes

What happens when the career you’ve spent 30 years building no longer feels like the right path? That’s exactly what today’s guest, Ceri Hughes (a client of mine and now an Executive Coach), faced when she left a long and successful career in professional services to step into coaching. After years of traveling the world for work, the pandemic brought her back to her hometown in South Wales, where she began redefining success, reconnecting with what truly matters, and embracing mid-life transitions—not just in her career but in her health and way of life. In this episode, we dive into: 🧡 Career transitions and redefining success - What led Ceri to walk away from corporate life and start a coaching business 🧡 Navigating mid-life shifts with courage - How she embraced the changes that come with this stage of life, from career to health 🧡 The power of values in decision-making - Why knowing what’s truly important makes every transition easier 🧡 Overcoming fear and imposter syndrome - Moving through the doubts that come with big life changes 🧡 Pausing for applause - The simple but powerful practice of celebrating small wins to build confidence and momentum 🧡 Authentic connections and support networks - Why you don’t have to navigate transitions alone, and how it's a lot more fun with someone asking you the questions you already have the answers to. but can't quite see it Ceri’s journey is a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to make a change, redefine your path, and create a life that feels deeply aligned. If you’ve ever felt stuck or unsure about what’s next, this episode will leave you feeling inspired and ready to take your next step. Slow Down To move Forward Confidently

You might be a bit sick of hearing about the importance of sloooooooowing down. I recently got hit with a huge reminder and I'd love for that NOT to happen for you in the way it did for me. In this episode of the Bounce Out of Bed Podcast, I’m diving into the idea of slowing down to move forward confidently. Recording from the peaceful landscapes of Western Australia, I’ll be sharing how taking a moment to pause for applause can make a big difference in your journey. I reflect on the importance of celebrating your progress, no matter where you are or how far you've come. Slowing down allows us to boost morale, gain insights from past experiences, and create a solid foundation for ongoing success. If you’ve been feeling the pressure to keep pushing without taking stock of your achievements, this episode will encourage you to hit pause and recharge. I teach this stuff, because it's one of the things I've most needed to learn. Grab your journal and reflect on how far you've come, and how this practice can help you move forward with more clarity and confidence. IMPORTANT NOTE: in my recovering from sickness phase, the past 2 episodes were posted the wrong way around (Universe had other ideas) and so here I share that The Flourish Method (my signature group programme) doors close on the 16th September and in light of my boo-boo (or was it??!!) doors are open until the 23rd at this not to be repeated pricing.
