Emily Lynn Paulson, Author

Your New Life Blend

A few years ago, Emily Lynn Paulson didn't think she had a problem with drinking. She'd quit cold turkey for her pregnancies, after all. But there always seemed to be a reason to drink, an opportunity, an excuse. And, soon, a constant. And her kids noticed. So she made a decision, found a sponsor and a 12-step program, and quit. Now Emily is the founder of Sober Mom Squad, a Certified Professional Recovery Coach, a Facilitator of Addiction Awareness and the author of "Highlight Real: Finding Honesty and Recovery Beyond the Filtered Life." But there was something else she needed to be honest about: her complicit relationship with a predatory multi-level marketing outfit (MLM). Drinking had helped make Emily a sales juggernaut, but she didn't like what she'd bought into. So for the second time inside a few decisive years, she intentionally pivoted away from something central to her life. In this episode of "Your New Life Blend," host Shoshanna Hecht talks to Emily about her upcoming book, "Hey, Hun: Sales, Sisterhood, Supremacy, and the Other Lies Behind Multilevel Marketing," and her path away from the slippery-slope culture of casual drinking and MLM payday, and towards making amends, and changes.
