Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (Diastolic CHF) and SGLT-2 Inhibitor Therapy

The double-blind, randomized phase III EMPEROR-Preserved trial showed a benefit of the sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor empagliflozin in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
Now let us dig a bit more into those headlines.

Diabetic Gastric Emptying Abnormalities (and sometimes normal) - Part 1

Almost nobody feels comfortable managing DELAYED gastric emptying (gastroparesis) and very few medical providers even think about RAPID gastric emptying in their diabetic patients. Even if you send these patients to GI specialists, your blood sugar co-management of these patients can be heavily impacted by these issues. Is delayed gastric emptying always a bad thing? When your patient has upper GI symptoms, how often is it a gastric emptying abnormality? Time for some answers.

D Klimek ,

Simply the best.

Dr Gil Porat excellently combines a critical analysis of relevant journal articles and interweaves them seamlessly to support the medical knowledge base, whilst adding his own empirical - and often common sense - clinical experience without being overwhelming.

A joy to listen to, the salient points are enthusiastically and refreshingly illustrated. Often these key points are underpinned by fascinating anecdotes of the natural history of a disease.

Critical analysis of treatment with consensus statements, position stands or research literature, complimented by practical examples gives you a basis for clinical practice - whilst drawing out satirical-but-relevant pieces of literature, poetry or famous quotes.

We must encourage Dr Porat to continue this podcast until he is a ripe old age. I trust like a fine wine it will get even better. An essential podcast for all. Please keep up the good work.
