Permanent Record Podcast
Brian and Sarah are your hosts for this look back at albums from the New Wave and Classic Rock genres-- albums which have earned a permanent spot in their record collection. The hosts start the discussion with a history of the album, followed by their personal history with it. Over the course of two episodes, they do a track-by-track review of the album and the videos that accompany the singles. They conclude by each giving the album a final review and rating of zero to 100 record adapters. Join Brian and Sarah in this fun look back at the hits-- along with some misses-- of the 70s and 80s!
A Podcast for the Masses
Dec 2
Well, the electric masses, anyway. If you love Depeche Mode, Erasure, OMD, The Cure, Duran Duran, etc., this is the podcast for you. Sarah and Brian put together a lighthearted yet always very informative podcast about the best music of our lives: ‘80s & ‘90s (and beyond). You can tell this is something they love to do as their research is extensive and production is polished. I learn something new with every episode and have a laugh or two to boot. If you want to learn some cool stuff about some great music, this one’s for you. My only word of caution is that Sarah’s voice is smooth-as-silk, and sometimes I doze off when I’m listening (that’s not a bad thing, though 😉). In all seriousness, PRP is very well done and I hope it’s around for a long time to come to keep us informed about our favorite bands and tunes. Keep up the good work, guys!
Homework that I enjoy
Apr 6
I recently discovered this podcast because of the Quick Step and Side Kick episodes. Glad to know that I was not the only one to love this album. I have been digging into the other episodes and have discovered they are best when I do my homework first - listening to the album and watching the videos. It is fun to predict what Brian and Sara will talk about. I look forward to more Thompson Twins reviews and hopefully some Eurythmics too. But I will gladly listen to whatever they review.
In depth, thoughtful and insightful

I just discovered this podcast recently and so far have listened to all the episodes discussing two of my favorite albums of all time, which both happen to be by the Thompson Twins. Brian and Sarah have a very natural way of speaking, making it very easy to listen to, and they infuse their conversations with interesting research and personal anecdotes for a very refreshing listen! I am so glad I found this podcast. It is a treasure for anyone who truly loves music.
Essential Companion for Your 80s Synth Pop Addiction
10/31/2023
Started listening to this podcast a couple of years ago when they reviewed my favorite Erasure album. I had never heard anyone else that had so much to say about each individual song, the chart history, the album artwork, the backstories. I honestly never thought that 30 years later I could have a whole new appreciation for songs I had heard hundreds of times. Brian and Sarah do such an amazing job of meshing their own personal relationship with the music, along with input from industry experts, and tons and tons of really fantastic research. Since then I’ve enjoyed not only all of the Erasure albums, but also Yaz, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, and so many more. If you love 80s synth pop, do yourself a favor and find your favorite album in their backlog and rediscover your favorite songs all over again.
