Second Chance Cinema

Second Chance Cinema explores the movies that either the critics panned, the audience ignored, or both. Whether these movies came out before their time or after, hosts MC and Spro believe that they deserve a second look. Especially with all the crap Hollywood is producing now, perhaps we should find our entertainment today- in the hidden gems of yesterday.

Refreshing

MC and Spro are onto something here. Everyone loves to talk about the movies that everyone else is talking about. But these two bohemians shine the spotlight upon the movies fiercely admired by a select few. I'm not talking cult film. I'm talking that movie that you adored growing up, but no one else has heard of or remembers. The episode on the irreverent comedy "Men at Work" is a particular favorite, and despite having seen it many times myself, the hosts and their guest managed to elucidate in better terms than I ever could the many reasons why this movie is so endearing. They even offered facts I didn't know (John Hughes was involved?!) and pointed out a few things on camera I never noticed before (a nod to an obscure Mexican social revolutionist), prompting me to give an old favorite yet another viewing. The portion at the beginning where they made connections from the actors' previous or later roles to the characters they play in the focus film was particularly imaginative and should definitely be explored in as many episodes as possible! Bravo, fellas! I'll be tuning in again.
Fun and informative.

The hosts manage unique movie discussions which vacillate between theory, well-researched trivia and supplementary minutiae, and silly offbeat trajectories. MC manages the pace while Spro dictates the topics for exploration. Humor comes often and organically from these old friends which makes spending time with them all the more endearing. Unlike similar themed podcasts, they have yet to stray from their theme of championing underappreciated or forgotten films. They have thus far provided a list of movies which truly feel like titles we’ve all glossed over and not a list of cult films we’ve all seen. On their social medias, they offer transparency in communication and welcome interactivity from their listeners, prompting us to proffer cinematic subjects for their discourse. Averaging under 50 mins, their format is digestible and doesn’t overstay its welcome. I look forward to the future of this show as I feel that with these strong foundations, their best is still ahead of them, and that’s exciting.

Didnt know what to expect with a podcast with little description and just starting out but i stumbled in when i saw what movies they were talking about. I was glad to see they werent just another podcast bashing films but actually praising them. I don’t know if they are weekly or 4 episdoes dropped monthly but ill subscribe. watch them grow. wish them the best. suggest more fixings like a logo, description, maybe a third host who is seeing the movie for the first time. can tell their friends
