Kpop Critical

Kpop Critical is a kiki where we deconstruct Kpop. Catrina and Morgan, talk notions of "the Diva", Kpop being the grandchild of Motown and Hollywood, the commodity of art-making, white supremacy's relentless grip on pop, and the intersection of "pointless" and "perfect" in pop culture. It might not sound like it sometimes but we like Kpop, we would just prefer if celebrity and US imperialism didn't exist.

    Oooooh shit, hey didn't see you there. Snuck up on me. Huh, what do you mean we've been gone for months? Today's episode is, obviously, the first in a while. Been a busy year but Kpop works a bit harder than us all apparently so we've been behind amongst other things like getting our lives together and trying not to catch a debilitating airborne illness.     Some y'all be like "Pick me! Pick me! Pick me UP! Pick me! Pick me! Pick me UP!" and don't even know it... It's been a while, as usual. Just think of us as a solar eclipse. Depending where you are in the world, not everybody is going to see us. Make sure not to look directly at us if you do see us tho. This episode is the third part to our Trauma Series! We discuss the spectacle of the training process, "hardship" as a concept, and how baring witness to growing pains doesn't necessarily guarantee safety, security and money (which... like most regular people... most of these kids are looking for)for the ones trying their hardest.
