  2. A Lesson in Failure

    A Lesson in Failure

We have been conditioned from an early age to view failure as a bad thing.  Think back to elementary school or any formal education institution.  Failure was viewed as a bad thing.  I know many times when I failed and saw the big “F” on my homework or an exam and I quickly hid it.  I didn’t want anyone to see what was really going on.   At the same time I was mortified and embarrassed, the highest grade and all the “A” student were getting all the accolades.   What I have come to learn is if someone, a teacher, mentor, etc., would have sat with me and dug into the failure, we would have discovered early on that I was very capable, I just didn’t know how to study.   It wasn’t until I was in college that someone took the time to help me look at the failures and learn from them.  Extract what was really happening and learning from those previous failures allowed me to go onto University and actually make the Dean’s list my Sophomore, Junior and Senior year. My question to you is, where are you failing that you are avoiding the feedback that is right Infront of you.  The gold nuggets that are buried in the data of the failure.   Join me as I explore the importance of assessing failure.  I share 5 way to extract answers for success through the failures. Failure provides: Opportunity for GrowthClarification of your goalsEncourages adaptabilityBuilds self-awarenessRedefines success Join me for a powerful episode on success through failure.  They answer to success usually lies in the failures.   Stop avoiding the perceived pain and story around failure and put your own twist on it. Outpace yourself by shortening your success curve in addressing the opportunities that lie before you! 3. Procrastinate?  Who me??

    FEB 4

    Procrastinate?  Who me??

Procrastination and Its Impact on You, Your Business, and Your Life I often joke that if universities offered a master’s or doctorate in Procrastination, I would have likely earned both degrees! But why do we procrastinate? While countless reasons exist, I'd like to highlight the five primary factors that many of us might not even recognize as contributing to our delays. Once we pinpoint the “why” behind our procrastination, we can begin to course-correct! #1 - Fear of Failure Many of us have an insidious fear of failure embedded in our mindset. The notion that if I don't complete a project, I can escape the sting of rejection becomes appealing. By procrastinating, I sidestep the possibility of being told "no." This fear often looms larger when we tackle something new or implement a novel strategy. #2 - Overwhelm and Burnout Ignoring feelings of overwhelm is a surefire way to shut down entirely. When we fail to address our stress, we risk spiraling into avoidance. Adding more tasks to an already overwhelmed mind can feel unbearable, leading to chronic delay. Interestingly, procrastination itself can be a significant contributor to burnout—what we often seek to avoid can become the very source of our fatigue! #3 - Digital Distractions In our hyper-connected world, distractions abound, especially from social media. It’s all too easy to escape into a digital rabbit hole, scrolling through friends’ idyllic vacations, rather than diving into essential tasks like lead generation. Choosing the comfort of social media over challenging responsibilities is a common pitfall of procrastination. #4 - Lack of Accountability When we only must report to ourselves, it's deceptively easy to sidestep our commitments. Accountability pushes us toward action; after all, no one wants to admit to falling short on commitments. As a coach, I personally engage with several coaches myself. Recently, I embarked on a project that was unfamiliar and, admittedly, daunting. I found myself procrastinating despite having the necessary tools and plans. To counteract this, I hired a coach with expertise in my project area, and now, I’m back on track and focused—no more procrastination here! #5 - Time Management Skills Time management can often be a sneaky culprit in our procrastination habits. It’s easy to drift away from core activities necessary to achieve our goals. For me, discovering the Pomodoro Technique was transformative. Rather than feeling overwhelmed by long, unstructured work periods, I learned to manage my time in shorter, focused bursts—25 minutes of work followed by a brief break. This shift in perspective has significantly impacted my productivity and has helped many of my clients conquer their procrastination as well. By recognizing these factors, you can take proactive steps toward overcoming procrastination and reclaiming control over your time and productivity. If you find yourself struggling, remember that acknowledging the issue is the first step toward making meaningful change. 4. Only the Motivated

    Only the Motivated

As salespeople, we are inherently driven to secure clients. However, we often mistake securing a client for securing the **right** client. Have you ever found yourself with a pipeline full of "clients," yet none of them are acting? It can leave you wondering if you're presenting the right opportunities. That sense of frustration and dread can creep in, especially when you really need one of these clients to move forward. If this resonates with you, it’s possible you’ve filled your pipeline with unmotivated clients. They might express a vague desire to do something, but they lack clarity on what truly compels them to act. Early in my career, a respected agent I looked up to emphasized the importance of categorizing and working exclusively with clients who exhibit high levels of motivation. At that time, I was in the "I'll take whatever I can get" phase and didn't fully grasp her advice. Over time, however, I realized that what she shared was perhaps the most valuable insight I could receive in real estate. I only wish I had listened sooner—it could have saved me **hundreds of hours** that were spent and potentially wasted on the wrong clients, taking time away from lead generation efforts to find more motivated prospects. Join me as we explore the importance of categorizing your clients based on their level of motivation and awareness. Discover how focusing on motivated clients can enhance your efficiency, increase your conversion rate, build stronger relationships, and foster high levels of engagement. Let's also get clear on the **five warning signs of an unmotivated client**: 1. **Lack of Urgency** 2. **Vague or Non-Committal Responses** 3. **Frequent Fluctuations in Interest** 4. **Low Engagement in the Process** 5. **Unrealistic Expectations** By recognizing these signs, you can refine your approach and focus on those who are truly ready to move forward. 5. Are You Majoring in the Minors?

    JAN 7

Are You Majoring in the Minors?

Have you found yourself having "busy" days yet, not accomplishing your true goals for the day, week or year?   It might be because you are focusing on the Minors versus the Majors.  The Majors are the High Impact Activities that will get you to goal.  Things like Calling your Database, Open Houses, Networking, lead follow up, etc.   The minors are things like, Administrative work, clerical tasks, etc.    There is a tendency for your mind to seduce you into doing the minors as, those are tasks you can complete that are typically not dependent on someone else saying Yes.  They are things you can finish and feel accomplished and check them off your list.  YET, they are not the true activities that are going to move you forward to goal.  Your "Majors" should be non-negotiable and happen regardless of what is going on in your world.  They are KEY to moving your forward.  How do you stay in the Majors more often:  Grasp the concept and know your Major's and your minorsIdentify your TRUE core drivers and behaviorsThe costs associated when you play in the MinorsProven strategies to move you from the Minors to the MajorsCreating the right mindset to avoid slipping into the minors  This is how you will achieve your goals this year.  If you have missed your goals in the past, I can assure you that you spent more time in the "minors" than the "majors" and most likely, weren't even aware you were doing so!  Let's make 2025 the year of "Majors".
