Pay to win, how is it different than before?

I’d like to start by saying I’m obsessed with the podcast. Found it far to long into my VGC “career” (lol). Tuesdays are now my favorite day of the week due to the Tommy Tours. Truly appreciate what you guys do for the community! I attended my first regional in 2023 and lost my win and in finishing 6-3. Very excited to see next time I’ll be participating in day 2. I’ve attended 1 local (2024) and was a little disappointed with the ATL VGC scene. Won’t give up just yet. I preface the following comments with this as I think it’s important to realize that worlds is a pipe dream due to being an adult. It’s more the time commitment that will always prevent me from participating as much as I would like to. I’ll cross my fingers one of my kiddos loves the game like I do and we can turn it into a family trip! I don’t see how this year’s CP target was any different than the proposed changes. Or maybe better stated, I’m struggling to see the difference. Even with a CP target, paying to attend more regionals gives you a HUGE advantage over individuals who were only able to attend 1-2. I think implementing a cap on regionals for the 24/25 season is actually a huge step in the right direction of getting the best players at Worlds. Make the total regional/IC events even less! You still have an opportunity to play in more than 6 and boost your CP. I think my only criticism would be that CP earned at NA events should only count towards your standings in NA and EU events should only count towards your standings in EU (and LAIC etc.). Playing EUIC shouldn’t help bolster your chances at worlds representing NA, if that makes sense. Look at any other Esport where you have regions. You don’t have people coming from other parts of the world to take ranking points. It also wouldn’t stop the big spenders from traveling because if they finished top 4 at an IC, they got an auto invite. Curious to hear your thoughts on this. Not as if the Pokemon company is reading, but still seems like a happy medium. Keep up the great work! Entei winning worlds. Wacko
