    Fear or Reverence? | With Ria-Mari 04

This podcast is a audio extract from a live YouTube video my fiancé and myself did we discussed the misconceived ideas about fear of the Lord. The Bible teaches that fear of the Lord is not a phobia but a deep reverence and awe for God’s goodness and character. We’ll explore how this understanding leads us into a life of wisdom, peace, and honor in our relationship with Him. Key Scriptures: Proverbs 1:7 (ESV) – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”Proverbs 10:27 (ESV) – “The fear of the Lord prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short.”Proverbs 14:26-27 (ESV) – “In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.”Proverbs 15:33 (ESV) – “The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.”Proverbs 19:23 (ESV) – “The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.”Proverbs 22:4 (ESV) – “The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.”Psalm 34:11 (MSG) – “Come, children, listen closely; I’ll give you a lesson in God worship.”1 Timothy 2:10 (MSG) – “But the goal is to live a simple, reverent life, before God.”2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV) – “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”Revelation 1:17 (ESV) – “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, ‘Fear not, I am the first and the last.’”Acts 10:1-21 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort, 2 a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God. Acts 11:13-14 (ESV) – “And he told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and say, ‘Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter; he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’”Romans 8:15 (TPT) – “And you did not receive the ‘spirit of religious duty,’ leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the ‘Spirit of full acceptance,’ enfolding you into the family of God.”1 John 4:18 (ESV) – “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” Definition of Theosebeia (θεοσέβεια): Reverence or respect toward God, particularly in response to His goodness.
