    18: Podcast interview with newly retired soccer player and MLS Cup winner, midfielder Tony Rocha!

    In today's eighteenth episode of the Sports & Psychology Podcast, we hop into an interview with retired MLS cup winner and Belize national soccer team player Tony Rocha. We talk about topics ranging from the transition from being a professional athlete to retirement, starting the next career and founding the BeMore Agency, to tips and tricks Tony still uses today psychologically. If you're someone who works with athletes, is a professional athlete or aspiring to be one, or in general, is interested in what athletes go through and or interested in sports psychology, and wants to gain some inspiration both in terms of how to set up your or athletes personal branding as well as setting yourself up mentally and emotionally for success, then you’re right where you want to be. Tony Rocha Bio: Tony was a 4 year collegiate athlete playing midfielder at the University of Tulsa, and was the captain of the team in his senior year. He won the conference freshman of the year award, all-conference third team, as well as being named to the conference all-tournament team. Tony was selected in the 2015 MLS Super Draft by Sporting Kansas City, before signing with the Austin Aztecs. Tony went on to play for Orlando City, before being acquired by New York City FC. Tony won the 2021 MLS Cup with New York City FC. Tony played with the Belize national team in 2019. What is your approach to leadership? Question 2: Now you're American, how was it playing with the Belize national team?     In today's seventeenth episode of the Sports & Psychology Podcast, we hop into an interview with Defiance College psychology student and former D3 soccer player Abbegail Rank. We talk about topics ranging from student-athlete mental health to NCAA policies, to tactics and techniques like mindfulness. We also get into some of the peculiarities of European vs. US systems. Abbegail Rank Bio: Abbe graduates from Defiance College in Ohio in May with her bachelor's degree. She triple majored in social work, psychology, and criminal justice with a minor in autism studies. She's going to grad school at the University of North Texas to get a dual master's in Kinesiology and clinical mental health counseling. She played soccer at Defiance College where she received the co-award for team rookie of the year in 2019. She also received the all-conference academic award 5 times.
