Leadership in Turbulent Times Critical uncertainties are caused for leaders by the rapid changes we are witnessing both globally and locally. Added to the daily mix of political, environmental and economic changes, leaders increasingly need to factor in new rapid technological changes such as the spread of “fake news" through algorithms and technological fabrication, societal changes such as rapidly aging population and the surging crisis of opioid use. Amidst this turbulence, not-for-profit leadership is expected to navigate increasing complexities. Your role as a leader requires that you engage in greater depth with a more diverse group of stakeholders. What skills can you learn to help navigate rapid change and increased complexity? 2. Bridging the Innovation Aspiration Gap 80% of non-profit leaders aspire to innovate, but only 40% say they have the capacity to do so. In this session, we will explore why innovation is an essential attribute of successful non-profits, and how leaders can infuse it into their organizations to keep pace with a rapidly evolving Canadian ecosystem. 3. Digital transformations in Not-for-Profits As we approach a 4th industrial revolution and technology become increasingly accessible and affordable to not-for-profits, more organizations are undergoing digital transformations. The panel will provide various cross-functional perspectives on these transformations and communicate valuable takeaways from their experiences.
