    NGF - EP 19 We Need to Realise the Power of Our Own Story with Mary White

    In episode 19 we chatted with Mary White. Mary is the author of ‘Relentless: The Inside Story of the Cork Ladies Footballers’, and the author of Cora Stauntons autobiography ‘Game Changer’, for which she won the An Post Irish Sports Book of the Year award in 2018. She is also an advocate for diversity and inclusion in women’s sports. Mary talks to us about how she went from playing inter-county football to taking the initiative to write and promote ladies football, as well as being a part of other national teams in sports such as tag rugby and basketball. During this time she brings us along her journey as she tells us how the opportunity to write Relentless came along, as well as Cora Staunton’s autobiography. And so much more.     NGF - EP 18 BROKEN BUT SATISFIED WITH DR. OLGA LYASHEVSKA

    In episode 18 we speak with Dr Olga Lyashevska. Olga has acquired quite the rap sheet in her life so far. She is a statistical data analyst, European jiu jitsu gold medalist, world masters jiu jitsu silver medalist, world veterans judo bronze medalist, and she knows 7 languages. That’s only naming a few things that she’s accomplished. Olga talks to us about how she balanced travelling and education with her jiu jistu and judo career, how the pandemic has forced her, like many people, to adapt her training regime without the option of a gym, and a whole lot more.     NGF - EP 17 Follow Your Gut with Cliodhna O'Connor

    In episode 17 we had the pleasure of chatting with Dr Cliodhna O’Connor. Ciodhna is a post-doctoral researcher with the National Suicide Research Foundation. She previously worked on the My World Survey, the largest national study of youth mental health conducted by UCD and Jigsaw - the national centre for youth mental health. Cliodhna graduated with a PhD in Psychology from UCD in 2018. Her research focuses on risk and protective factors of mental health and the use of technology for improving wellbeing. As a former primary school teacher Cliodhna is interested in bridging Psychology and Education to improve mental health. Cliodhna talks to us about her journey, what lead her down the road to become a researcher, and more, as we discuss the importance of mental health, especially given the current climate.     NGF - EP 16 We Rarely In This Life Have Time To Slow Down with Kayte O'Malley

    In episode 16 we chatted with radio personality Kayte O’Malley. You may recognise Kayte’s voice as she MC’s for Flirt FM, iRadio and Spin Southwest, so you’ve bound to have heard her at some point. She is also the recipient of the Bronze Newcomer Award from the IMRO Radio Awards. And she’s hun-trepreneur. Kayte shares with us her rollercoaster of a journey with her first stepping stone navigating a degree in Law from the University of Limerick, to presently MC’ing on 3 radio stations. Between all that though she completed a Masters in Irish Studies, as well as a number of other courses and diplomas. Some of which included Digital Marketing, Creative Writing, Radio Programme Production, Starting Your Own Business, and much much more. She really loves to learn. Not to mention her first nomination and her Bronze award win at the IMRO Radio Awards for best newcomer. This week’s episode is super fun and will be sure to have you laughing.     NGF - EP 15 Get It Down Now, Get It Right Later with Anne Griffin

    In episode 15 we had the pleasure of chatting to Anne Griffin. Anne is the Irish No. 1 best-selling author for her debut novel ‘When All Is Said’, and she was also awarded Newcomer of the Year at 2019s Book Awards. Anne explores and shares the journey she went through – and how she wouldn’t change a thing about it – starting with a BA in History in UCD, then after college she worked for over 8 years in Waterstones bookstore, where her love for books flourished. That’s not where her writing career started though, in the years that followed Anne acquired qualifications in Community & Youth Work, Accounts Technician and lastly in 2015 a MA in Creative Writing. She explains how she ended up working closely with reptiles and arachnids when she comes from a family of  arachnophobes, introducing us to her pet lizard Nova.     NGF - EPISODE 13 - There Are No Limits to the Achievements Within You with Rena Buckley

    In episode 13 we are joined by Rena Buckley. Rena runs and owns her own chartered physio clinic in Macroom, has won a total of 18 All-Ireland county medals between football and camogie, not to mention the numerous other All-Ireland medals that she has won with her football and camogie clubs as well. She is also the only person so far to captain her county football and camogie team to All-Ireland titles. And that’s just to name a few things, the list goes on. It’s refreshing to listen to Rena as she talks about her journey balancing two sporting disciplines at the highest level as she also pursues a career in becoming a physio.     NGF - EPISODE 12 - The Trouble Is You Think You Have Time with MEP Maria Walsh

    In episode 12 we speak with MEP Maria Walsh. Born in Boston to 2 Irish parents, Maria was actually raised in Shrule, County Mayo. After college, Maria moved back to America to experience the ‘New York’ lifestyle but soon found it wasn’t for her. An opportunity presented itself to move to Philadelphia, which became a home away from home. It was here that her unexpected journey began to winning the 2014 Rose of Tralee, which resulted in her balancing life between Ireland and Philadelphia as the International Rose. After her ambassadorial year of being the International Rose she made the decision to move back to Ireland to make the most of the momentum. Maria takes us on this journey and more as she shares with us how she pursued the prospect of becoming an MEP. All this and more in this next instalment of Next Gen Fem.
