The 404 Media Podcast

After Vice’ Motherboard imploded due to mismanagement (who could have guessed a publisher named Vice would be under poor management?!) some of the staff took their ball and went home with it. As I understand it 404 media is the result. They’re one of only a handful of cases where I’ve heard reporters report on things I know more than them about in a way that doesn’t make me scream and throw my phone in a lake. They’re about 50% of the reason I still have faith in journalism as a practice after watching news media in general get progressively worse sometime after the pivot to video. Their tip lines are solid gold, their beat journalism unbeatable, and their writing is on point. I assume. I only listen to the podcast, because I have a dog and a toddler and the only thing I do is walk them, clean after them, and cook for them, all of which is conducive to podcasts but not to reading text. Anyway, the podcast is good, is what I’m saying.
