#003: Paula Ramirez - Standing in Your Privilege + Using it for Good Radiant Calm with Linnie

    • Health & Fitness

Feeling shame and guilt for your privilege isn't helpful for you or anyone else. Doing something is.

Paula Ramirez co-founder of Breathe International, an International NGO combining Peace-building + Mindfulness walks us thru how growing up in an armed conflict, studying anthropology and experiencing an auto-immune illness led her to be curious about ways in which human beings can build peace from within, and how resilience and healing could be inspired and guided through the body.

Paula has worked closely with teachers and survivors of torture, gender-based violence and landmines in Colombia, South Sudan and Bangladesh. She teaches trauma-informed MBSR and mindfulness-based interventions in these contexts.

Her years of work and time spent studying and practicing compassion offer us insight into being compassionate with yourself, with however you're processing everything right now; and shines a light on how not being able to see your privilege, and own it, is a form of oppression.

Acknowledging and embracing your privilege is liberating and gives space for you to ask yourself, as many have this week, what can I do with it?
