59 episodes

A podcast hosted by Robert Smythe and Rafael Mantesso, two autistic artists having fun talking about being neuro-atypical. Only when they were well into adulthood did Mantesso and Smythe learn they are autistic; Mantesso was in his 30s and Smythe in his 50s. Their diagnoses explained a lot, but it wasn't until they met that each finally had the experience of talking to someone who thought just like them. Their freewheeling conversations have helped other people, autistics and neurotypicals alike, understand more about seeing and thinking about the world differently.

Teddy Rosevelt: Why do they exist if they can’t pay minimum wage?
“No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.”

President Roosevelt criticized businesses paying low wages to employees during his 1933 statement on the National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA). NIRA allowed the government to regulate businesses to combat deflation and stimulate a better economic situation.

4.6 Meet the Team: Tango Fae Batelli

This is a conversation from our second season that we never actually aired, but we want you to hear it so you can get to know Tango Fae Batelli, one of our co-hosts. Tango is the founder of AutiComm, a peer-to-peer community of autistic folks, which is why we asked her to talk to us. In this conversation, we talk about feeling good about being autistic, the Double Empathy Problem, “not looking autistic,” fawning vs. masking, the different experiences of autistic males and females, and the different flavors of autism.
