Homecoming is an enchanted time of the year in which alum and admirers return to campus to support their school’s sporting events, perform community service, attend talent shows, and Greek celebrations, such as chapter and line anniversaries. On an HBCU campus, the aura and atmosphere of homecoming are different. It’s like a family reunion without the elders, kids, and weird-ass cousins. Full disclosure: I am not an HBCU grad. I’ve been a guest at several HBCU homecomings, and I’ve always enjoyed myself. Like most of you, I am hurt that most homecomings are canceled. I had plans to go to my favorite homecoming experience this October. We all need a feel-good moment, right?
