Jesus came just in time to save the righteous from death.(11:52) The sacred relics are no longer in the stewardship of the chief judge and are taken away into the priestly line, perhaps indicating the beginning of societal breakdown.(19:53) We can trust that Jesus will fulfill every whit of every promise he has given.(20:38) Once you have light, beware of the temptation to doubt it.(24:26) Some of the Nephites start to defect as great wickedness increases, just 4 years after the sign.(25:27) Commentary on 3 Nephi 2.15-16. The cultural separation was removed when outsiders began to have faith in Jesus.(27:29) The destruction of a people can result when they abandon their religious values, identity, and culture.(28:28) Giddianhi’s letter to Lachoneus illustrates the adversary’s tactics and goals. He seeks to convince the faithful to walk away from their covenants by using flattery, sowing seeds of doubt, threats, boasts of strength, guilt, fake sincerity, and the promise of acceptance.(36:00) Lachoneus’ stalwart defense of his people is a type for our day. Don’t take council from fears, cry unto the Lord, gather together, build fortifications, set guards round about, repent, follow leaders, protect the family, and be strong with the armor of God.(43:38) Avoid being the aggressor in war and initiating the conflict.(45:40) In 3 Nephi 4.7-8 the Gadianton robbers were girded about with a lambskin dyed in blood. They were taunting their enemies or perhaps even mocking the Nephite faith.(48:01) What is the Greek name Lachoneus doing in the Book of Mormon? Eric Cline, professor of Classics and ANE studies, demonstrates cultural mixing from Greece to Palestine in 1177 B.C.(51:48) With only 5 years left before Jesus comes again, there are just few righteous among them. We should be careful to not lose blessings in the final moments.(1:00:14) The prisoners who repented are set free. There is order, justice, and equity in God’s kingdom.(1:06:19) Mormon describes what it is like to be a scribe and also a prophet. He promises that God will restore and gather his people. → Bryce Dunford’s Institute classes are now available online, sign up here. → Enroll in Institute → YouTube → Apple Podcasts → Spotify → Amazon Music → Facebook

Lewis discussed the difference between being in love versus a more majestic, long-lasting love.(17:35) Samuel’s warnings parallel words from an older Egyptian text called The Instruction of Amenemope.(26:21) Why signs are given by Samuel. Even with great signs we still have to choose to follow Christ.(30:13) The sign of light at Jesus’ birth and the sign of darkness at his death teach us about the Savior.(33:00) We are saved by the merits of Christ, not by our good works.(34:33) The appearance of Jesus Christ’s name in the Book of Mormon.(39:51) The Atonement of Christ overcomes both death and sin. All overcome spiritual death by being brought back into the Father’s presence at the resurrection. Only those who repent and receive Christ remain in his presence.(46:46) Love and hate can be misunderstood in Samuel’s address, specifically when he says” the Lamanites hath he hated” (Hel. 15.4). This statement may relate to ancient Near Eastern treaties, which differ from modern conceptions of “love and hate.”(59:57) Samuel escapes the stones and arrows of his attackers.(1:04:42) The importance of striving for unity. The book of Helaman is a pattern for our day, exposing the weakness of a fragmented society that is deeply divided and contentious. → Bryce Dunford’s Institute classes are now available online, sign up here. → Enroll in Institute → YouTube → Apple Podcasts → Spotify → Amazon Music → Facebook

See how Amalickiah rises to power in Lamanite society.(55:44) In what areas have you come down a little? What are you doing today that you once vowed you would never do?(1:00:07) Moroni was a man of balanced principles. He loved liberty, yet did not delight in warfare. The battle with evil changes and we have to adapt.(1:10:21) We can be happy in a world of uncertainty and turmoil.(1:11:47) The Nephites had all power over their enemies, but they became weakened because of disunity.(1:13:41) Morianton’s maid servant fled to the camp of Moroni.(1:15:00) Contention and dissensions among the people of Nephi brought them down.
