    EP 49 - Keeping Kim's vision alive

After taking some time for reflection and healing, we are thrilled to announce the continuation of Gorge Real Estate Talk. As many of you are aware, our beloved host and dear friend, Kimberly Salvesen, passed away on January 1st, 2023 after a courageous battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Despite her diagnosis, Kim's indomitable spirit fueled her passion for the podcast and the real estate market. Initially created to keep our community members informed about the current state of the real estate market, the podcast evolved into a platform to spotlight local businesses and community programs. In today's episode, our new host, Alisha Nightingale, chats with Rachel Broughton and Kim Chamness, the new owners of Windermere Real Estate Columbia River Gorge, about Kim's remarkable legacy and the seamless transition of ownership. Although Kim's loss remains a heavy burden on our hearts and minds, the Windermere family has come together in a beautiful way to keep her vision alive. During this episode, you will hear from some of Kim's closest friends and colleagues about her inspiring impact as a mentor, a friend, and a pioneer in the real estate industry. We hope this special episode will serve as a touching tribute to Kim Salvesen and her extraordinary life. Moving forward, we have lined up some incredible guests and exciting topics that we can't wait to share with you. We appreciate your unwavering support and look forward to continuing this journey together.   To learn more about Kim Salvesen and her incredible life's journey, please visit below.   https://www.columbiagorgenews.com/obituaries/obituary-kimberly-salvesen/article_ff07bc60-92be-11ed-b330-7b96ff7e530f.html

EP 43: Beatriz Lynch from SafeSpace

On this weeks episode, we sat down with Beatriz Lynch from SafeSpace here in the Gorge. What is SafeSpace? We'll SafeSpace is the front-line responder to reports of child sexual and physical abuse, witnessing violence, and other serious maltreatment of children in the Columbia River Gorge. We wanted to bring them on and to tell us all about how the were started and what we can do to lend them a helping hand.  We hope you enjoy learning all about this amazing resource we have here in the Gorge and we hope you will reach out to them if you know of a child or family going through difficult and abusive situations.   From SafeSpace.com "As Executive Director, Beatriz is responsible for ensuring SafeSpace fulfills its mission to reduce trauma to child victims of abuse through multidisciplinary evaluation and advocacy in a safe and healing environment. With a BS in Social Work, Beatriz brings more than 20 years of working with children in various capacities.   She is passionate about the work SafeSpace does in the Gorge Community, and committed to providing the highest quality services to every child who comes to SafeSpace.   Beatriz gets really excited when the team is able to bring CAC services to new communities. She feels rewarded when a child leaves SafeSpace relieved they finally were able to tell their story, and someone was there to listen. She really likes the fact that SafeSpace has such a wonderful team to work with and great community partners that come together to help a child that has been abused.   When Beatriz isn’t advocating on behalf of kids, you’ll find her doing calming activities like knitting and reading, or active out on the water SUPing or kayaking. Her side passion is raising Scottish Highland miniature cattle!"
