Miles for Freedom's Podcast

The Miles for Freedom podcast brings adventure, sport, and awareness to see people freed from slavery. In a world where 27 million people are trapped in human trafficking we want to bring a series of interviews that will inform, inspire, and influence you to move for freedom. We will inform you with stories from freedom fighters who are leading movements and organizations. Stories like that of Cheryl Oliver who left the finance world to help free women from the sex industry in Dayton, Ohio. This podcast will bring inspiration from people like Julia Immonen who have used sport and adventure to fight trafficking. Most importantly this series will influence you to ask the question “How can I move for freedom?”

Episode 4 - Make it Zero - with Mary Frances Bowley

My special guest today is Mary Frances Bowley, author of Make it Zero: The movement to safeguard every child. Mary Frances is the Founder of Wellspring Living, an organization fighting childhood sexual abuse and exploitation since 2001. She has been a leader in bringing the fight against child sex-trafficking to Atlanta and is a founding member of the Georgia Statewide Human Trafficking Task Force. Mary Frances was appointed to the Governor’s Commission on Domestic Violence in 2010. She was awarded the Martin Luther King Community Service Award and the AKA Humanitarian Award. She is also the author of A League of Dangerous Women and The White Umbrella. Make it Zero is co-authored by Jennifer Bradley Franklin, a multi-platform journalist and editor, specializing in travel, food and lifestyles. Her work appears in USA Today, Delta SKY, American Way, People, Food Network and a host of others. She holds an ABJ in Journalism from the University of Georgia's Grady College. One of her greatest joys has been immersing herself in some of the biggest concerns facing America's young people - weighty issues like poverty, hunger and much more - through the research and writing of Make it ZERO. I am very excited to be a part of this book launch and to introduce you to Mary Frances. Miles for Freedom has supported Wellspring Living since our first 72 mile bike, skate, walk, run event in 2012. This interview is more than a conversation about the new book release of Make it Zero. It will inform you with the facts and inspire you to take on the mission to safeguard every child from sexual exploitation and human trafficking. The book is available in bookstores and as an ebook for your favorite multi-media device. For more information go to www.MakeItZero.net and www.WellspringLiving.org Thank you for joining us today.
