The ancient world was filled with sexual immorality, chiefly in relation to worshipping the ancient gods. However, some did have a sense honor, respect, and obligation, viewing the marital relationship as building block of society. The best example of this is the Israelites of the Old Testament and the laws they were provided by Yahweh. They endorsed the original creational model of one man unified with one woman in an lifelong bond from which children could be born and raised and introduced into the rest of the community to begin families of their own and work toward the betterment of the world.
