1 John 4:1-6 || Test the spirits
Ep. 914 Test the spirits
1 John 4:1-8
Our passage in 1 John is a perfect example of what we want to do to better study the Bible - and that's what this podcast is all about -
Dwelling in the Word and letting the Word dwell in us richly is different than reading the Bible or reading a devotional with Bible passages. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly and return the favor by dwelling in the Word - not "doing" Bible study, not simply reading - but moving into the Word with heart, soul, mind, and strength. It's being intentional in making a shift from treating the Word of God like a self-help book to letting it dwell in us as the living Word of God that it is. -

Ep. 912 How to Use Your Bible pt. 2
1 John 3:4-10
Part 2 in how to use your Bible we’re looking at several benefits and one caution of reading from a study Bible.
Dwelling in the Word and letting the Word dwell in us richly is different than reading the Bible or reading a devotional with Bible passages. This podcast is all about letting the Word of Christ dwell in you richly and returning the favor in a sense by dwelling in the Word - not "doing" Bible study, not simply reading - but really moving into the Word with heart, soul, mind, and strength. It's being intentional in making a shift from treating the Word of God like a self-help book to letting it dwell in us as the living Word of God that it is. -

Ep. 911 How to Use Your Bible Pt 1
1 John 3:1-3
It's simple enough to open your Bible and read and that is definitely something you should do, but there's something to be said about reading your Bible and taking advantage of the resources that are inside to help you dwell better in the word. So, join me today to talk about using footnotes and cross references in part 1 of this session on how to use your Bible.

Ep. 910 Bone Broth and Bible Study
1 John 2:25-29
If you've ever made bone broth then you know the importance of having a good filter - a colander, seive, or cheese cloth. The same applies when we read the Bible. Shouldn't we read the Bible with no filter? Actually, no. We all read the Bible through a filter - several filters actually. The filter of our upbringing, our current situation, even our mood at that moment. Be aware of your filters. You can’t remove them - but you can be aware so that when you read the Word you can ask - How is God using His holy Word in my life to teach me, encourage me, convict me, and change me today?
