    Enjoy Stuff: …In Moderation

Growing up we loved to experience edgy comedy without getting too edgy ourselves. That's why Cheech and Chong were so popular to us. So come on a journey of nice dreams and Enjoy Stuff!   On this 4th season and 20th episode of Enjoy Stuff we look back at two ‘buds’ that have been making people laugh for years. Cheech and Chong!   News Ewan MacGregor gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Brian May recovering from a stroke, but celebrates his recovery by opening a new Queen album The Time Bandits reboot has been cancelled after only one season   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we’re Enjoying Shua jumped head first into the pile of bricks that is LEGO Star Wars Rebuilding the Galaxy. He can give it his recommendation as a fun Star Wars story and a fun LEGO parody. There’s some fun new characters that you’ll grow to enjoy and some great cameos from Star Wars favorites. Check it out on Disney+. Jay is enjoying the second season of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It has a more epic feel and is giving a very entertaining interpretation of Tolkien’s Middle Earth backstory of the origin of the rings and of Sauron.      Enjoy Movies!  Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong met in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1969, and started a friendship that lasts to today. They found they had a similar sense of humor and began improv together. They expanded to opening for others, and eventually headlining large venues. Their movies aren’t deep, and often centered around infantile and drug humor, but it influenced a lot of people and set us on the path of understanding…well, a little. We still don’t understand the Corsican Brothers. Whether you loved them or hated them, they have been an important part of our culture and the comedy world.    What’s your opinion on Cheech and Chong? Where’s dave? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Dave’s not here” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Enjoy Stuff looks back at the original and everything that has come in between, with a spoiler-free review of the latest. Plus, a tribute to James Earl Jones.   Let’s do a retrospective of Beetlejuice! From the original to the sequel that has just been released in theaters. With rumors of a season 4 possible, now’s a great time to go back and check out the jokes and the heart of the show starring Jason Sudeikis and a variety of very talented actors. Ted Lasso can be found on AppleTV+.  Shua is enjoying the new season of Only Murders in the Building starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. He’s not surprised that it’s good, but it’s been especially touching this season and still hysterical. Only Murders in the Building is on Hulu.      Enjoy Movies!  Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice is a sequel 36 years in the making. Opinions seem to be varied on how enjoyable it is. But we are going to take a look at the positive aspects of checking it out. We’ll start off by looking back at our experiences from the original. What did we think of it back then? Why was it so popular? We’ll analyze our feelings from all those years ago. Then we’ll look at everything that came after, such as the animated series and the video games. Then we’ll discuss what’s to like about the sequel.    Have you seen Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice? Was it worth the wait? Enjoy Stuff: Bald is Beautiful

September 13 is officially Bald is Beautiful Day, so Jay and Shua get out the polishing cloths and celebrate the beauty and comfort of looking like Mr. Clean.    News Weird Al updating all his music videos to HD/4k on YouTube over last couple weeks No longer just a gatekeeper, Sigourney Weaver has been cast in the Mandalorian and Grogu movie AMC theaters is offering "Haunted" Icee for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Now, thanks to Hyundai, you can ride around in that most popular of 80s cars, the black sedan, but be nice to the environment.  We know you’ve always wanted to try a convergence of Oreo and Coca Cola. Well, now you can!  You can watch a totally fun and ridiculous reading of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones from celebrities and comedians in THE GREAT KAMINO KAPER   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we’re Enjoying Shua seems to be overcoming his avoidance of scary movies. He watched A Quiet Place: Day One with Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn. It was an intense addition to the franchise and gives us a terrifying origin story for our planet’s downfall. Jay is spending some of the waning summer days playing disc golf with his son. A cheap and easy activity that is lots of fun and gets you moving outside. Check your area for some disc golf courses, or just make your own.     Enjoy Life!  For many years our culture has put a stigma on the simple and natural truth that a person’s head can be bald. Both men and women alike are susceptible to losing their hair in a variety of different ways. But we here at Enjoy Stuff are here to pull you into the worldwide celebration of Bald is Beautiful Day! BIBD was created by John Capps from Moorehead City, NC. (I’m not kidding!) John started the Bald Headed Men's Convention over 50 years ago and the momentum hasn’t slowed down. Many people proudly sport the shinier side of their melon, including a variety of famous people. Join us as we sing praises to cue balls everywhere on Enjoy Stuff!   How do you show off your head? 2 SEPT

    Enjoy Stuff: All of Us

Revisit the Steve Martin classic All of Me for its 40th anniversary. Jovial Jay and Shua have tons of laughs at this fun retro comedy.    We love Steve Martin. And that’s why we had such a good time rewatching All of Me. Tune in to Enjoy Stuff to hear all about this 1984 Carl Reiner film.    News Say What? A season 4 of Ted Lasso? It may be coming There’s a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice menu at Denny's and it may send you to the afterlife Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story has a trailer and is coming to theaters soon   Are you ready for a John Williams documentary? Of course you are! It must be done, and it’s coming.   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we’re Enjoying Greedy people may annoy all of us, but they make for an entertaining movie. Jay enjoyed the Joseph Gordon Levitt dark comedy Greedy People. It has a lot of twists and unexpected surprises that keep you entertained. So be prepared for an unexpected ending. Shua revisited the 1979 new beginning for a franchise. Star Trek - The Motion Picture may not be the best Trek film, but it has it’s merits, and it kept the universe alive.    Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay reluctantly added the 2007 adaptation of the much loved 80s cartoon Transformers. This Michael Bay film was definitely a spectacle, but could it live up with our expectations? It depends who you ask, but either way, Jay breaks it down and gives his analysis on Sci-Fi Saturdays. Read his article on RetroZap.com.  And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Agents of SHIELD season 3. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.     Enjoy Movies!  40 years ago Steve Martin’s movie career was really on the rise. He teamed up for the fourth time with Carl Reiner for the “body swap” comedy All of Me with Lily Tomlin. She plays Edwina Cutwater, a very rich woman who is about to die. Instead of coming to terms with it, she has hired a Swami to put her soul into Terry Hoskins, the daughter of Edwina’s stable master Fred. But in a freak accident, she gets put in Steve Martin’s Roger Cobb instead. Now he has to find the Swami to fix it all. It was a fun concept and holds up today. We look back on it all and talk about why we love it.    Have you seen All of Me? Would you swap your soul into another body? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Back in bowl” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Drop the needle with Enjoy Stuff as we look at some of our top "perfect" albums.    Some albums are so great to listen to that you just want to keep listening. We love music and it’s pretty hard to pick just a few amazing collections, but we grab a few to share this week.    News The Poltergeist house is up for sale, but you may not want to put in a TV Star Wars: The Acolyte has been canceled Lock yourself in a room and try to get out of the Only Murders in the Building Escape Room  A PS5 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is coming   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we’re Enjoying In a rare display of bravery, Shua went to see Alien: Romulus. He thought it was a nice addition to the franchise and felt like a sequel to the first one. And there are some fun surprises. Jay decided to check out last year’s Paul Giammati’s character film, The Holdovers. He was pleasantly surprised by the acting and story.    Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay experienced the 2006 anime Paprika for the first time. It was a cool action movie about a dream machine in the vein of Inception and Dreamscape. In the end, he enjoyed it and can recommend it. Enjoy Music!  This week we are looking at examples of a “perfect” album. Or at least a side of an album. To us, that’s the kind of album that you can listen to without wanting to skip a track. This is a subjective topic, of course, but we have a nice list of records that we think a lot of people love. Which ones did we pick? What did some of our Discord users pick? Listen to find out.    What are some of your perfect albums? How do they make you feel? Enjoy Stuff: It’s a Philly Thing

Jump back 40 years to a classic time travel movie with The Philadelphia Experiment. Jay and Shua reminisce and compare it to another 80s flick on Enjoy Stuff    Time skip back and forth through time with experiments connecting us to World War II. The Philadelphia Experiment takes us forward and The Final Countdown takes us back.    News We break down some of the biggest D23 News with plenty to excite everyone Pop-Tarts releases the biggest pastry EVER! Saturday Night is a new film that tells the story of the first broadcast of SNL What do you think of the extremely sweet new treat at an Arizona stadium Start planning great holiday gifts now with the Muppet version of Clue There’s a new horror documentary series from Shudder Best of luck to all the Paramount Television Studios employees that lost their job in the shutdown Ready for some pumpkin spice? 7-11 has you covered   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we’re Enjoying Jay was reminded of a Michael Keaton movie from earlier this year called Knox Goes Away. It starts off as a movie about an assassin who is looking to get out of the business. But it quickly turns unique when you find out that Keaton’s character has a quickly worsening form of dementia. You can check it out on Apple TV+ or Max. Shua grabbed an old Sci-Fi paperback from his shelf called Earthship and Starsong by Ethan I. Shedley. It never made it into the annals of sci-fi legends, but it is an interesting tale of humans' quest (and selfishness) for survival in the universe. Unfortunately we made enemies of everyone else in the universe. You can find this book on Amazon and other online sources.    Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay has reminded us of a 2006 Hugh Jackman movie called The Fountain. This unique movie tells a similar tale about a doomed couple from different time periods of history, which spans thousands of years. Check out all of Jay’s articles on Sci-Fi Saturdays, only on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Agents of SHIELD season 3. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.     Enjoy Movies!  40 years ago, a movie was released that was based on a possibly true story from 40 years before. Michael Pare and Nancy Allen star in the Philadelphia Experiment. Pare and Bobby DiCicco’s characters get flung forward in time to 1984 following a failed Navy experiment in World War II. Their problems weren’t over because they were still connected to the bizarre vortex that sent them there, causing painful outbreaks of electricity. Plus, the scientist who caused the accident, did it again with a whole town. Now Pare has to get back to stop it.    The movie is often compared to another WWII time travel movie called The Final Countdown. In that movie, the time travel happens in reverse, sending the USS Nimitz back to 1941 just before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Which movie did it better? We compare them and explain which one we like the best.    Don’t forget to check out Jay’s SciFi Saturdays articles on The Philadelphia Experiment and  The Final Countdown   Which movie did you like better? Would you rather go forward in time or back? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Philadelphia Freedom” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. It’s a pretend game show where comedians and celebrities answer goofy questions about the internet and modern day goings-on. Clips of the CBS show can be found on YouTube. Jay is watching the new Time Bandits homage created by Taika Waititi. It’s only a few episodes in, so we are reserving judgment. It doesn’t feel exactly like Terry Gilliam’s original, but it is a cute story in it’s own right. You can find Time Bandits on Apple TV+.   Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay feels like he may have watched the movie before. 2006 Deja Vu is a time travel movie with a bit of a different point of view. Enjoy Stuff: Big Mac Guffin

Your quest begins! And what are you looking for? A MacGuffin! It's one of the most prevalent plot devices in movies. Where did it begin? Where did the name come from? How is it used? ...wait, I just made another 3 MacGuffins...Join Jay and Shua as they dig deep into some of the most famous MacGuffins in history on Enjoy Stuff!   You’ve got to find the secret object before the other characters do! It’s important!    News There’s a new Weird Al single - Polkamania RIP Bob Newhart  Alien popcorn bucket and Deadpool and Wolverine popcorn bucket A Beetlejuice Beetlejuice full trailer has been released The Rings of Power Season 2 is almost here Kevin Smith Reveals Jay & Silent Bob 3 Title and Story Princess Leia's gold bikini sold for big bucks Be sure to check out lots of news from San Diego Comic Con on Superhero Suite plus a review of Deadpool and Wolverine Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we’re Enjoying Jay took a trip to the other side of the world to Tuscany, Italy. It was a relaxing (yet very hot) trip to the old country to enjoy a little relaxing environment. Shua traveled to Anaheim, California and enjoyed Pixar Fest at Disneyland. They both had great vacations but are happy to be home.    Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays we talk about 3 different sci-fi movies that Jay has analyzed. Idiocracy makes some bold (and sometimes accurate) predictions of the future of our country. The Prestige was a bizarre tale of two competing magicians and a Tesla machine. And Children of Men presented a scary dystopia where there are no new babies in the world and how that is really going to screw us up. Educate yourself and check out all of Jay’s articles on Sci-Fi Saturdays, only on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Deadpool 1 and 2 in preparation for the new movie. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.     Enjoy MacGuffins!  You’ve probably heard of a MacGuffin, but do you actually know what it is? MacGuffins themselves have been around about as long as stories, but the term originated in the 1920s and was made popular by the master, Alfred Hitchcock himself. While Hitchcock believed that the MacGuffin isn’t important to anyone but the characters in the story, George Lucas believes that it can be a very strong emotional connection to the people enjoying the story.    Which MacGuffin philosophy is stronger to you? What’s your favorite MacGuffin? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Your mission, if you choose to accept it…” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com
