What to Pack and What to Wear to Walt Disney World in October 2024

Will you be visiting Walt Disney World in October 2024? October is typically a great month to visit Orlando and Walt Disney World. This year, it looks like the weather will co-operate to make for some great vacation time at the Most Magical Place on Earth. How to Dress for October Weather and the Halloween Season at Walt Disney World October 2024 in Orlando is Shaping Up to Be a Pretty Good Weather Month October can be a great month to visit Disney World, especially if you like Halloween. Halloween décor and festivities are in full swing in October and the spooky season mood will be all around you. Of course, if Halloween isn’t your thing, it’s not the only game in town. The EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival is also under way in October, making a great option for more Disney fun and food. Also in October, Canadian Thanksgiving happens mid-month (October 14), so if you are visiting Walt Disney World at that time you may see elevated crowds surrounding that weekend. Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World in October 2024 The forecast for October 2024 at Walt Disney World continues this year’s trend of warmer-than-normal weather for Orlando. For October 2024, Orlando and Walt Disney World daytime highs are forecast to range from 79°F (26°C) to 88°F (31°C), while nighttime lows will hover around 66°F (19°C) to 73°F (23°C). This is a little cooler than September, but still very warm and pleasant for your Disney vacation. Another good sign is that there isn’t expected to be too much rain in the forecast. Of course, rain can be somewhat unpredictable in Orlando (especially with warmer temperatures), but October is looking to be a little drier than September. October will start out with temperatures on the warmer side and then cool very slightly as the month progresses. All in all, however, October 2024 is shaping up to be a very good weather month at Walt Disney World. What to Pack for Walt Disney World in October 2024 Packing for Walt Disney World in October 2024 means packing for a warm weather vacation. The nights will not be cold, so you can still get away with packing relatively light this October. With Halloween being in full swing in October, it’s definitely a good idea to pack a seasonal outfit, t-shirt, sweatshirt or hoodie – if you have one. Evenings should be just cool enough on some days so that you won’t be too hot in a hoodie once the sun goes down. Of course, if you plan to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom Park, you may want to bring a costume of some sort to celebrate the event. Beyond Halloween, it’s also fall, so fall-themed attire is another top pick for October at Walt Disney World. Given the warm temperatures, daytime outfits can include t-shirts, shorts, dresses and pretty much anything that you’d wear on a nice summer day. Evenings will be moderately cooler, so a hoodie or light jacket for after the sun goes down is also worth packing. Should You Dress Up for the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival?

The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is a popular annual event at Walt Disney World that is a celebration of everything to do with food and drink. From food sampling stations, to wine tasting, instructional kitchens and more, there is something for everyone who enjoys celebrating food and wine (and other beverages as well). If You’re Attending the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, Should You Dress Up? Unlike Disney events such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, the EPCOT festivals aren’t events that many people consider as dressing-up occasions. But there are many guests who do like to dress for the occasion and if you enjoy styling outfits for events that you attend, then the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival is a perfect place to put a little thought into your outfit. So should you dress up? We say yes, at least in terms of putting a little thought into styling your outfit with a hint of food and wine fest flair. What Should You Wear to the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival? For the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, it’s not so much about dressing up as it is picking the perfect outfit. It’s styling your outfit versus wearing a costume. Getting into the food and wine vibe is a great place to start. What you wear could be anything from graphic tees or print shirts that have food and wine theming, to something that you might wear to a vineyard for a wine tasting. Most guests do not dress up, so you might not want to go too far with your outfit. After all, you will be walking around a fair bit in Florida heat and humidity, so it’s wise to balance style with functionality. Personally, we believe that the Food and Wine Festival would be elevated if more guests did put a little more effort in their personal style when visiting the event. Plus, it makes it more fun and immersive for all attendees when the theming is extended to the attendees. What do you think? Should You Dress Up for Halloween at Walt Disney World and Disneyland?

If you plan to visit Walt Disney World or Disneyland during the Halloween season, should you dress up to join in the festivities? Will you feel out of place if you don’t dress up? And if you do dress up, what should you wear? The Spooky Season is Here, Do Disney Guests Really Dress Up for Halloween? Halloween at Disney World and Disneyland is a fun time of year. Disney goes all out with décor, treats, food, shows and even special ride overlays at Disneyland (too bad Disney World doesn’t do the same). So it’s not surprising that many guests embrace the spirit of Halloween with a little extra magic in their outfits. But should you dress up for Disney Halloween? Are You Going to a Disney Halloween Party? While some Disney Park guests do dress up a little during Halloween, it’s really only during the Halloween parties that you’ll see a larger number of guests dressing up in their favorite costumes. Many kids dress up for their Disney vacations all year long (princesses, Star Wars characters, Marvel characters etc.), but adults are truly allowed to go full costume only during the Halloween season (yes, there is a dress code specifically for this). Will You Feel Out of Place if You Don’t Dress Up for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Boo Bash? The answer is no. Many children and teens dress up, as do many adults. But not everyone dresses up for Disney Halloween. Far from it. So you won’t feel out of place if you don’t dress up. Costume Considerations for Disney Halloween Parties If you do want to dress up for a Disney Halloween party, what should you wear? The costume you wear to a Disney Halloween party really comes down to why you want to dress up. If you want to dress up so that you can really get into the spirit and be fully immersive, then by all means you can go all out with your costume (within Disney dress code guidelines). Cast Members will often acknowledge great costumes and you’ll certainly be able to get some great photos in the Halloween vibe. But, going all out on a costume can come at the cost of comfort, maneuverability and the ability to easily ride rides (depending on the costume). The next (and probably most common approach) is to strike a balance between dressing up to some degree (you’ll see a lot of Disney bounding in this category), while still being uninhibited by your costume. The final approach is to not dress up at all and just go to the party to enjoy the ambiance, sights and sounds. You won’t feel out of place if you’re not in costume, as you certainly won’t be the only one. What to Pack and What to Wear to Walt Disney World in September 2024

How to Dress for the Beginning of Fall at Walt Disney World in September Are you traveling to Walt Disney World in September 2024? September is a unique month in Orlando and at Walt Disney World. There a few things that you really need to know when picking your outfits and packing for September weather in Orlando. September in Orlando is a Shoulder Season, Which Means Be Prepared for Anything September is a great month to visit Disney World, particularly when it comes to lower crowd levels and fun events. This is the month where you can enjoy the best of Disney Halloween and the food and flavors of the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival all in one trip. However, preparing for potential weather conditions during the month of September at Walt Disney World is a little trickier. As a shoulder month, there can be various weather impacts in the month of September and 2024 looks like it may be a wetter month than recent years. What to Pack for Walt Disney World in September 2024 Packing for September 2024 will be different this year, as the weather is looking to be a little hotter than normal and a little wetter as well. Packing like you would for August is probably a safe bet this year, which is not always the case for the first official month of fall at Walt Disney World. Plus, with Halloween in full swing and the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival fully underway, you may want to consider packing a special outfit or two if you plan to take part in the festivities (both of which are highly recommended). Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World in September 2024 The forecast for September 2024 at Walt Disney World includes the kind of oppressive heat and humidity that you pretty much expect in Orlando at this time of year. For September 2024, Orlando and Walt Disney World daytime highs should range from 86°F (30°C) to 95°F (35°C), while nighttime lows will hover around 73°F (23°C) to 79°F (26°C). And remember, these temperatures do not include humidity/humidex, so be aware that it can easily feel much hotter than this on most days. Unfortunately, the forecast for September 2024 in Orlando includes rain on 15 of 30 days, with the week of September 15 predicted to be particularly wet. Of course, we all know that weather prediction is hardly a science, but still it is something to consider if you’re visiting this month. When you couple the warm temperatures continuing on into September with the forecast rain, you can prepare for humidity that will impact on both your park stamina and the clothes that you wear, so pack with this in mind. Active weather, including tropical storms and hurricanes, is still possible as well in September. You can plan in advance for these by checking the local weather (on a local Orlando weather app) the day before you leave for your vacation. That will give you the most up-to-date outlook for the week of your vacation. What to Wear in Walt Disney World in September This year, September weather means you can continue to pack lighter clothing as you would in the summer. Light colors (which are great in the hot sun) are not as critical for the month as the forecast calls for a lot of cloud cover. Given the chance of showers and active weather, quick dry clothing and footwear are good picks to pack for September 2024 at Walt Disney World. Disneyland vs Walt Disney World: How Do Guests Dress Differently?

Disney guests at Walt Disney World and Disneyland don’t dress the same when it comes to Mickey wear and more. So which resort has visitors who wear more Disney inspired clothing and why do guests dress differently at Disney World and Disneyland?    Walt Disney World and Disneyland Guests Don’t Dress the Same, Here’s What We Noticed   One of the great things about visiting both Walt Disney World and Disneyland is that the resorts and parks are different, so you get a very different experience when visiting one or the other. But the differences aren’t only what you can see and do in the parks, the style of the guests who visit each resort is also different.    So what’s different about Disneyland and Walt Disney World guest style?   California weather has a couple of noticeable differences compared to Orlando: rain and humidity. Where it can rain at Walt Disney World on every day of your summer vacation, you’re unlikely to see any rain at all at Disneyland during the same time period. Plus, there is very little humidity at Disneyland Resort, which makes it much more comfortable to walk the parks (even in 90*F+ heat).   Weather aside, there are quite a few things that we noticed when comparing the guests in the crowds of Disneyland versus the guests at Walt Disney World.    How Guest Style Differs Between Disneyland and Walt Disney World   Headwear One of the most noticeable differences that really stands out (possibly because it is at eye level) is that there are far fewer Disney mouse ears and mouse headbands on guests at Disneyland versus Walt Disney World.    Disney-Branded Clothes Similar to mouse ears and mouse ear headbands, there are also far fewer Disney clothes on guests at Disneyland. Whereas the majority of guests (on an average day) at Walt Disney World have some sort of Mickey wear on, it’s quite a different story at Disneyland. Mickey wear and Disney character clothes are in the minority. You do see some, of course, but the difference is noticeable. Along the same lines, there are far fewer couples, families and groups wearing matching Disney shirts as well. In fact, over the course of a week visiting both Disneyland parks daily, I saw two instances of matching Disney shirts.    Footwear When it comes to footwear, things are not dramatically different at Disneyland versus Walt Disney World, with one notable differences. We noticed far fewer Crocs on guests at Disneyland compared to what you tend to see at Walt Disney World.   What Causes the Guest Style Differences Between Disneyland and Walt Disney World? It’s hard to say why Disneyland guests tends to be less decked out in Disney wear than guests at Walt Disney World. It may be that California residents are more fashion and style conscious and so they value personal style over Disney wear for their park visits. The fact that California weather is less humid and less rainy likely does not have an impact on outfit choices. Guests at Disneyland are still wearing the same types of clothes as their counterparts at Walt Disney World in Florida (t-shirts, shorts, dresses etc.), it’s just that they are not predominantly Disney branded or Disney related items. Top Five Reasons to Do Carry-On Bags Only on Your Disney World Vacation

If you're wondering if it's possible to fly to Walt Disney World with carry-on luggage only, the answer is yes. We share the top five benefits of doing carry-on only and how it's easy to pack for a week's vacation with carry-on only. Ever since Covid hit in 2020 and bag check became a universal nightmare at airports around the globe, we have never checked a bag again. We travel to Walt Disney World and Disneyland at least three times each year, plus we have had European vacations and more during this time and have not checked a single bag. For most airlines, you are allowed one free carry-on bag, plus one additional bag – like a backpack. This is an important part of the carry-on packing strategy, since the backpack can be a fallback for additional items that may not fit neatly into your carry-on. Five Reasons Why Should Only Do Carry-On on Your Disney Vacation 1. Saves You Money The first and easiest reason is that it typically saves you money when you go with carry-on bags only. Carry-on is less costly (usually free), so the savings increase with the size of your group. Airlines may soon charge for carry-on baggage, but for the time being, it’s usually going to save you money on checked baggage fees if you go with carry-on bags only. 2. Forces You to Pack Light Overpacking is one of the worst habits of many travelers, and Disney travelers in particular can ten to overpack on Disney outfits. Remember, five to seven outfits is plenty. Even less if you will typically wear only two pairs of shorts for the week (for men at least). Shoes is also one of the biggest issues travelers have. I pack only one pair (and one pair of flip flops for pool time, but those are flat and don’t take up much room). So if you are a shoe person, try to limit yourself to two pairs maximum, 3. Faster to Get out of the Airport at Orlando International Airport (MCO) When you land in Orlando, everyone is usually itching to get out of the airport and get to Walt Disney World as quickly as possible. The carry-on strategy is your biggest friend here as you will get to walk right by the crowds hovering around the baggage carousels waiting (im)patiently for their bags to arrive. If you go with carry-on baggage only, you can skip this time sucker altogether and be out of the airport and on your way to WDW an hour faster. 4. Easier to Maneuver at the Airport, Hotel and Everywhere Carry-on bags are smaller, lighter and easier to maneuver. So you will really enjoy the convenience at the airport, on your transportation, at the hotel and anywhere you need to lug your bags around. If you are going with a split-stay strategy (two or more hotels on your vacation), then carry-on bags is even better. First, you won’t have as much to repack (since you have a smaller bag in the first place) and second, switch hotels is so much easier when you only have small, light luggage to move. 5. You’ll Have More Room in Your Room With carry-on bags, you’ll find that you have more room in your hotel room. The small bags can make a huge difference in how much space is tied up by luggage. You’ll find you’re not tripping over bags or having to give up valuable room space to full size suitcases. Even with only two or three people, having only carry-on suitcases to deal with makes a big difference. So enjoy your extra space! The Five Best Places for Fashion Outfit Photos at Walt Disney World

If you want to take great photos of your Disney outfits at Walt Disney World, there are five great spots that will consistently deliver exceptional photos for your social media feed or personal photo album. Want to be Disney fashion influencer? Here's how to get started with great Disney style photos. The Five Best Photo Spots at Walt Disney World to Show Off an Outfit   What to Consider to Get the Best Photos of Your Disney Outfits at Disney World The best time for photos under natural light is first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon (which generally will provide softer golden lighting. Overcast days and shaded areas are also great for providing picture perfect diffused and muted light. So if you are serious about getting a great photo for your social feed or to become a fashion/style influencer, get to your photo spot first thing in the morning. This will provide the best lighting and the lowest crowds.   By going early, the lower crowds mean that, at worst, you can use AI great to remove one or two errant people in the photo. But beyond one or two people, it can get trickier. Unless you are going for the blurred crowd effect (which is something to try if you find yourself in that situation).   Focal length, aperture and the distance to your subject can all affect how the final photo turns out. Plus, for scenic views you need to consider whether the background will be busy or uniform, and whether it will be blurred or more in focus. All of this makes a difference in your final photo. You can adjust much of this in post production using apps, but the more that you consider up front, the less work you will have to do later. Five of the Best Outdoor Scenic Photo Locations for Disney Style   1. Cinderella Castle   As a classic icon, Cinderella Castle has several vantage points that are perfect for unique and stylized fashion shots. This does not include the standard head-on shot from Main Street (where the PhotoPass photographers are positioned). Look for a unique angle on either side of the castle, with some good spots towards the back.    2. Grand Floridian Resort   Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort offers a ton of first rate outdoor photo spots. From sprawling green lawns, to great florals and tropical gardens, to beach photos and backgrounds of Seven Seas Lagoon, you can always find a great photo spot here. Of course, the white and red color palette of the majestic buildings are also picture perfect.   3. Disney Boardwalk   The Walt Disney World Boardwalk has a number of options for unique and interesting fashion and style photos. From benches on the wooden boardwalk, to vistas of the Crescent Lake and the Yacht and Beach Club hotels in the distance, you will have the potential to get a ton of great shots here. If you are looking for that magical late afternoon golden hour sunlight, the Boardwalk area is perfect for that photo-friendly natural lighting.   4. EPCOT: Morocco Pavilion, France Pavilion, By the fence around to World Showcase Lagoon While EPCOT has no shortage of first-rate photo opp locations for fashion and style photos, there are two or three that stand out as top picks to explore. At the very back of the Morocco Pavilion, you will find a wonderful location with great lighting, interesting backdrops and few crowds. Nearby in the France Pavilion is another great area where you can capture some fashion and style photos featuring the charm of old Europe. For the France area, you will need to go early in the day for the optimal nature light and the lowest crowds.   Also in EPCOT, the blue water of World Showcase Lagoon can make a nice blurred background. Finding a location along the black iron rails next to the water can make for some excellent photos, assuming you time it right with the sun low in the sky or on an overcast day.    5. Animal Kingdom: Harambe Marketplace area, Animal Kingdom  (Fichwa Fellow Wall, with Mickey Mouse, You are Most Beautiful wall)   Over at Disney’s An

This or That? Top 10 Questions on Disney Travel Fashion and Style

Ever wonder how to choose between two things when planning your Disney travel outfits? We answer 10 top questions, that each compare two Disney what-to-wear options, in 10 rounds of This or That: Disney Travel Fashion and Style Edition. 10 This or That Questions that Answer What’s Best to Wear in Disney Parks Ever wonder how to choose between two things when planning your Disney travel outfits? Mike and Amelia discuss, debate and pick the winners in 10 categories of Disney travel This or That? Get the answers to 10 top questions about this or that Disney travel fashion and style. Disney Travel Style: This or That 1. In the Disney Parks: Subtle Disney Shirt or Obvious Disney Shirt. This or That? Subtle Disney shirt is our top pick in this category. Keep your obvious Disney shirts for back home when you're not on vacation. Plus, Disney Cast Members often comment on the subtle Disney shirts that they don't see every day. What about outside the Parks? Outside the parks on a Disney vacation, subtle Disney shirts are still a top pick. 2. For a casual dinner (such as the Grand Floridian Café): casual shorts/leggings or a dress? This or That? A dress is a great option for women, as it's a little more, well, dressy. For men: nice casual shorts and a short sleeve button up shirt or pants and casual dress shirt? For men, casual shorts with a short sleeve button shirt is a great choice and can be worn on many other occasions on your vacation. 3. For visiting the Disney Parks: a hat or Disney ears? This or That? Disney ears are the winner here, because there aren't many other places you can really wear Disney ears and feel confident. But this doesn't include if you need a hat for utility purposes. 4. Wearing a hat in Disney Parks: a ball cap or wide brim hat? This or That? A ball cap is more functional if you go on a lot of rides. They can be stowed and stored more easily. But, you will get a ball-cap tanline (if you're concerned about that). A wide brim hat offers more protection and is a good choice if you don't go on fast rides. 5. For Disney World in cooler weather: jeans or leggings? This or That? While there is a bit of an anti-jeans feeling among many Disney travelers, Amelia still feels that leggings or loose pants are a better pick (also considering that jeans are less forgiving around the waistline). Mike is a little more on the anti-jeans side of the fence. 6. For Disney Parks in cooler weather: a hoodie or sweatshirt? This or That? This one's close and can depend on whether or not the hoodie is zip up or pullover (zip up offers more flexibility). The crew neck sweatshirt gets a slight edge here. 7. Walking the Disney Parks: Converse Chuck Taylor’s or Running Shoes/sneakers? This or That? The response is split on this one. Amelia recommends sneakers or tennis shoes, while Mike prefers his Converse All-Stars. Your best bet here is to get with what is most comfortable for you in other long-walk situations. 8. A cotton t-shirt or a button-up short-sleeve shirt? This or That? Mike recommends a short-sleeve button-up shirt over the t-shirt here. Mainly because button-up shirts are less hot and more flexible for both parks and dining. 9. Which top is best: cotton or linen? This or That? Assuming the best quality of both items, linen is the pick for both Mike and Amelia. 10. If you need to carry a bag in a Disney Park: a backpack or sling bag/crossbody? This or That? For easy access and less bulk, the crossbody or sling bag is the winner here. Small backpacks were trendy 10 years ago and are not as accessible. So unless you need a large backpack for utility reasons, go with the more flexible crossbody type of bag.
