Today’s expression is ‘to catch someone off guard’. So, what exactly does this expression mean?
Well, I’ll tell you a quick sample sentence and I want you to listen and guess the meaning.
Ok. Here we go.
“My boss completely caught me off guard when she asked me to give a presentation in front of the whole company. I was not expecting that at all .’
So, did you guess the meaning?
Well, ‘to catch someone off guard’ simply means to surprise someone. In my example, my boss surprised me by asking me to give a presentation. She caught me off guard.’
