From September 19th to November 3rd, the Yeast Photofestival returns, full of exhibitions, events, and guided by highly relevant and interesting themes, as always linked to the world of food.
We speak with artistic director Edda Fahrenhorst who presents to us the artistic choices behind this and past editions of the festival, raising our awareness of the food production cycle and against food waste.
Yeast Photofestival was founded in 2021 with the aim of exploring and promoting a renewed relationship between humans and the environment through the language of photography and visual arts. The festival aims to be a place of cultural fermentation and transformation, where multimedia works are presented to tell stories of environmental respect and human biodiversity.
Since its first edition, Yeast Photofestival has identified photography as the meeting point between artistic innovation and culinary tradition, between the local ecosystem and the global landscape, to exorcise the fear of an apocalyptic climate future and point to new positive possible scenarios.
The festival seeks traces of a new world in both the past and the present. Quoting poet Franco Arminio, Yeast Photofestival is “the feast of the future on the tables of the archaic.”
“Food is identity” is the theme of the event, which each year is developed around a specific suggestion.
