Today, let's talk about electronic payment in China.

As we mentioned in previous episodes,

electronic payment in China has become very widespread.

普遍到什么程度呢

Pǔbiàn dào shénme chéngdù ne

How widespread is it exactly?

连路边摆摊卖菜的老人都用二维码收款

Lián lùbiān bǎitān mài cài de lǎorén dōu yòng èrwéimǎ shōukuǎn

Even elderly people who set up street stalls to sell vegetables use QR codes to receive payments.

绝大多数在中国的人，身上没有现金

Juédàduōshù zài Zhōngguó de rén, shēnshang méiyǒu xiànjīn

The vast majority of people in China don't carry cash with them.

所有的商业都可以用二维码支付

Suǒyǒu de shāngyè dōu kěyǐ yòng èrwéimǎ zhīfù

All commercial transactions can be completed via QR code payment.

大部分的餐厅都可以扫二维码点餐

Dàbùfèn de cāntīng dōu kěyǐ sǎo èrwéimǎ diǎncān

Most restaurants allow customers to scan QR codes to order food.

个人与个人之间的资金往来

Gèrén yǔ gèrén zhījiān de zījīn wǎnglái

Fund transfers between individuals

也是用手机支付

Yě shì yòng shǒujī zhīfù

are also done through mobile payment.

小孩子没有自己的手机

Xiǎoháizi méiyǒu zìjǐ de shǒujī

Children don't have their own mobile phones,

但是通常会有一种设备叫做电话手表

Dànshì tōngcháng huì yǒu yī zhǒng shèbèi jiàozuò diànhuà shǒubiǎo

but they usually have a device called a "phone watch".

和iwatch这一类的智能手表类似

Hé iwatch zhè yī lèi de zhìnéng shǒubiǎo lèisì

It's similar to smartwatches like the Apple Watch,

但是功能很少

Dànshì gōngnéng hěn shǎo

but with far fewer functions.

也可以扫码支付

Yě kěyǐ sǎomǎ zhīfù

It can also be used to scan codes for payment.

下到小学生

Xià dào xiǎoxuéshēng

From primary school students,

上到七八十岁的老人

Shàng dào qī bā shí suì de lǎorén

to elderly people in their 70s and 80s,

都用电子支付

Dōu yòng diànzǐ zhīfù

everyone uses electronic payment,

也就是手机支付

Yě jiù shì shǒujī zhīfù

which is essentially mobile payment.

这样的情况真的太便利了

Zhèyàng de qíngkuàng zhēn de tài biànlì le

This situation is really extremely convenient.

电子支付的发展也才几年的时间

Diànzǐ zhīfù de fāzhǎn yě cái jǐ nián de shíjiān

The development of electronic payment has only taken a few years.

也许是由于中国人口太多

Yěxǔ shì yóuyú Zhōngguó rénkǒu tài duō

Maybe it's because China has a huge population,

加上商家用力推广的结果吧

Jiāshàng shāngjiā yònglì tuīguǎng de jiéguǒ ba

coupled with the strong promotion efforts by merchants.
