great information but mediocre radio

I've been listening to Dan for many years, but over the past year or so in particular, Dan has drifted further and further into a very small set of verbal ruts which repeat and repeat and repeat. This short lexicon includes phrases such as "family-friendly double-barrel", "get ahead of my skis", and a near-constant (and non-varying) peppering of sarcastic setups including "It's so strange that...", "It's so weird that...", "It's so crazy that...", and all such. Simply put, it makes for bad radio. Dan's show is good for an occasional dip, but regular daily listening is impossible for anyone who is annoyed by a cookie-cutter presentation with limited phraseology. What is truly annoying about it all is the certainty that Dan is smart enough to do better.
