Episode 1: Ben Bagley

Impact and Arts

I talk with Ben Bagley about his experiences as an artist, particularly in the world of theater as both an actor and theatre technician. We cover a wide range of topics, including: the downsides of traditional education paths for creative people, the importance of learning about and understanding all the elements of a project, both the personal and collaborative nature of art, why entertainment is a valid job, how the pandemic has changed the culture of media, and answering the age-old question of, "What is art?"

Ben Bagley is a multimedia artist based in Portsmouth, NH.  He grew up on the Seacoast of NH exploring many different artistic fields all over New England. His experience working in theatre (performing as well as in the technical field) and his passion for filmmaking and photography led him to the work he does today. Ben specializes in theatrical headshots and the promotion of live theatrical performances across multiple digital arts. His signature approach fuses video, photography, and graphic design to create a unified brand for every show. His work not only serves to promote the show but acts as an extension of storytelling in collaboration with artists producing the show.
