The gender dimension of asylum claims in the EU

The EU received over 513 000 asylum applications in the first half of 2024. One third of asylum seekers are women and girls. The EU’s asylum system incorporates gender-sensitive elements, and the Court of Justice of the EU has recognised gender-based violence as grounds for asylum. Despite these advances, more efforts are needed to address the human rights challenges women and girls face in asylum procedures.

Îmbătrânirea populației Uniunii va afecta profund mai multe sectoare, inclusiv sănătatea, asigurările sociale, piața muncii și economia. Politicile Uniunii Europene pentru persoanele în vârstă se concentrează pe câteva domenii esențiale: îmbătrânirea activă, incluziunea socială, sănătatea și îngrijirea pe termen lung, dar și securitatea financiară. Cum să oprim pandemia de HIV până în 2030

Virusul imunodeficienței umane, prescurtat HIV, a fost detectat pentru prima oară în anii 1980. În timp, eforturile depuse pentru a trata și preveni infecția cauzată de acesta au transformat-o dintr-o boală mortală într-una ținută sub control. La nivel global au fost infectate peste 88 de milioane de persoane și s-au înregistrat 42 de milioane de decese. În prezent, circa 40 de milioane de persoane trăiesc cu HIV, din care aproximativ 810 000 în Uniunea Europeană. Sistemele sanitare sunt gestionate de fiecare țară în parte, însă Uniunea sprijină programele transfrontaliere, finanțează activitățile de cercetare prin programul său Orizont Europa și susține campaniile de sănătate publică. Uniunea s-a angajat să respecte obiectivele „95-95-95” ale Programului Comun al Națiunilor Unite pentru HIV/SIDA. Potrivit acestora, până în 2025, 95 % dintre persoanele cu HIV ar trebui să afle că sunt infectate, 95 % dintre cei care știu de infecție ar trebui să beneficieze de tratament, iar 95 % dintre cei din urmă ar trebui să aibă încărcătura virală suprimată. În acest episod al emisiunii „Ridicarea ștachetei: o legislație mai bună” analizăm rolul vital jucat de Uniunea Europeană pentru a preveni HIV, a combate stigmatizarea și a îmbunătăți viața oamenilor din toate țările Uniunii. Obiectivul final este ca, până în 2030, HIV să înceteze să mai fie o amenințare.

În fiecare an, 600 de milioane de persoane din întreaga lume sunt afectate de 200 de tipuri diferite de boli care pot fi transmise prin alimente. Uniunea Europeană aplică unele dintre cele mai riguroase standarde de siguranță alimentară din lume în încercarea de a preveni aceste boli.
