Казка "Швець і гноми" розповідає про бідного, але працьовитого шевця, якому дивовижним чином починають допомагати невідомі майстри. Щоночі, поки він спить, із його розкроєної шкіри з'являються готові чудові черевики, які приносять йому добрий заробіток. Перед Різдвом швець і його дружина вирішують підглянути, хто ж допомагає їм. Вони дізнаються, що це крихітні гноми, які працюють уночі, самі ж зовсім не мають одягу. На знак вдячності швець із дружиною шиють для них маленькі костюмчики й черевички. Отримавши подарунки, гноми востаннє танцюють на столі та зникають, залишивши шевця багатим і щасливим. Ця казка вчить доброті, вдячності та тому, що щире серце і праця завжди приносять нагороду.

The fairy tale "The Shoemaker and the Gnomes" tells the story of a poor but hardworking shoemaker, who is miraculously helped by unknown craftsmen. Every night, while he sleeps, wonderful shoes appear from his cut leather, which bring him a good income. Before Christmas, the shoemaker and his wife decide to take a peek at who is helping them. They learn that these are tiny gnomes who work at night, and they themselves have no clothes at all. As a sign of gratitude, the shoemaker and his wife sew small suits and shoes for them. Having received gifts, the gnomes dance on the table for the last time and disappear, leaving the shoemaker rich and happy. This fairy tale teaches kindness, gratitude and that a sincere heart and work always bring rewards.
