正文：It’s hard to run in heels. The other night, further away from home than I would have liked, a pack of five street dogs came into view. It was hard, too, to say whether their intentions were as malign as their snarls suggested, but it made sense to take no chances. Escape was a non-starter. I locked myself in my car until help could arrive.
