The Chon family owns a popular Korean barbecue restaurant in Mapo, a district in Seoul. The restaurant is called Chon’s Galbi House and it first opened in 1960. The founder is the late Soon-Ja Lee. She ran the business for more than 30 years. Then, her eldest son, Chon Sung-wook, became a second-generation owner.
Chon’s Galbi House took off in the late 1990s. A second branch opened in Shin-Chon in 2002. Mr. Chon chose the eldest daughter to manage this restaurant.
Next year, Mr. Chon plans to retire. And his eldest son will become the new owner.
