#01 - Water Pigeon: A New Approach to Remote Meter Reading

Project Blue Podcast

Sarp Sekeroglu, the cofounder and CEO of Water Pigeon, joins us to share his story of creating a unique approach to remote meter reading and navigating the water industry as a start-up.

Water meters measure the volume of water that passes through a certain point which informs utilities how much to bill their customers. Most water meters in the United States are read manually, meaning a person has to visually inspect every meter at least as frequently as customers are billed. As these meters get older and eventually need to be replaced, new “smart metering” technology allows meters to be read remotely and more frequently. Remote meter reading comes with widespread benefits and operational savings for utilities, however, replacing and upgrading every meter is an enormous financial undertaking.

Sarp and his team have created a new way to achieve this at a fraction of the cost.
