289: How To Successfully Navigate DIVORCE If You Own A Business
Today we are going to be talking about something on the more difficult side, but it’s a topic that has proved itself, unfortunately, 100% necessary in our industry.
DIVORCE.
Because divorce is something that you may never THINK will happen to you, until it does. And luckily, whether you ever find yourself in that position or not, there are really simple things you can do starting TODAY to prevent a lot of the conflict, expenses, and stress that come with the divorce process, specifically if you own or operate a business with your spouse.
And even if your spouse is NOT an owner/ operator of your business or have their name listed on the business entity, YOUR business will still be part of the division of debt and assets– so if you are married or plan to be married at ANY point while running your business- this is an absolute MUST listen for you.
Today on the show we have Dinah Rainey joining us. Dinah Rainey is a CDC Certified Divorce Coach® and the founder and owner of Dinah Rainey, LLC, a women’s divorce coaching business. With over 30 years of legal experience and more than 15 years as a family law attorney, Dinah specializes in helping women strategically prepare for and navigate the divorce process.
Beyond her coaching practice, Dinah is also the founder and owner of a consulting firm and a real estate investment company. She has also founded and owned law firms in California and Georgia.
So while Dinah of course cannot give actual legal advice here, she has some amazing practical knowledge to share that can benefit you in numerous ways, even if you are lucky enough to never go through divorce.

287: Handling Conflict and Mastering Tough Conversations With Customers and Employees with Elisabeth Robinson
THIS is one of those episodes that make me wish I could hop in a time machine back to 2015 when I was opening my business with what I know after this conversation. Knowing how to handle conflict and how to master difficult conversations with confidence would have saved me SO much anxiety, stress, and ALL the negative consequences that came from NOT having this perfected.
Our guest on the show today is Elisabeth Robinson of “Mastering Difficult Conversations”.
Elisabeth’s mission is to help people and businesses overcome pre-conversation anxiety and build confidence. Effective communication is a crucial skill in both personal and professional life, and today, Elisabeth is going to give us some really practical tips regarding how we can tackle conflict head-on and become better leaders in our business.
And Elisabeth also owned multiple brick and mortar bakery businesses so she has an amazing perspective as both an entrepreneur and highly trained and experienced HR professional to help guide us in this tricky area.
Today we are covering everything– from handling conflict with difficult customers, to handling issues with employees, and even navigating conflict BETWEEN employees– because I don’t know about you, but one thing I will always point to as something that shocked me about owning an indoor playground was just how much time and energy I would spend managing my team and hiring, training, firing– everything that comes with having support staff.
It blew me away just how all-consuming that was, and like I said, I really wish I knew then what I know now and Elisabeth is going to walk us through all of it step by step.

285: Stress Reduction, Nervous System Regulation, and Burnout Prevention For Indoor Playground Owners With Kelly Hale
Normally on the Profitable Play Podcast we talk about how to take care of your marketing, your team members, your sales and your customers, your business partners and vendors,- all that. But today, I want to talk about how we can take care of YOU, the business owner.
Because while most of us have amazing support systems and teams that help us make our missions possible– we still remain at the center of it. And if we allow our stress and anxiety and overwhelm to impact our mental and physical health- EVERYTHING suffers.
My guest on the show today is Kelly Hale. Kelly has 25 years experience in the wellness & rehab field as an OT, restorative movement specialist and nervous system regulation expert.
Her lifelong love of learning is apparent in her numerous certifications in Pilates, Brain Gym, Body Ecology, integrative manual therapy and more. She is continually fascinated by the body’s innate ability to self regulate and heal from within.
Kelly’s work is sought out for her unique, synergistic approach that goes beyond the diagnosis and functional deficits to examine the true root causes such as “tripped-up” reflexes, cranial-sacral system disruption, and an un-integrated nervous system. This work has inspired her to create many nervous system regulation programs for rehab and movement professionals as well as the curious person seeking a calmer, more empowered life. As a former meditation drop out herself she understands all too well the challenges of finding the peace and calm and is passionate about sharing quick, simple tools to tap into the wisdom of your nervous system.
Kelly has owned a Holistic Rehab and Pilates practice since 2001, so she has a TON of brick and mortar experience as well. She is a highly sought out presenter at professional conferences and a key note speaker. And today, she is going to teach us how to identify WHEN our bodies are reaching burnout, how to put a stop to it and regulate our nervous system and hormones, and how to actively prevent such imbalances and disruptions in the future– so that we can stay HEALTHY in our minds and bodies- so we can be present both physically and mentally in our businesses, our relationships, and in our various roles in our families and communities.
