Want a specific result, give specific directions
How do you get others to take the specific actions you want – The answer is pretty simple, give them specific directions Too often though, we give vague instructions or vague requests, and are frustrated when we don’t get the result we want.
There’s a cognitive bias called the false consensus effect which is the tendency for people to think that other people think like that. They think others have the same beliefs and would take the same actions in any given scenario.
This is why we sometimes give vague instructions or vague requests, think “it’s common sense” how it should be done. This is false, and in this episode, we’re going to talk about this effect and how to instead of letting it hinder us, use it to understand others and how they think.
