I am a descendent of settlers, mostly Irish, but German is my surname. I wish every single settlers’ descendent was aware of the impact of European laws and legislation, I currently reside in 1855 treaty territory and I’ve been so grateful to be educated in what it means to be a treaty person— seeing all the news about the plans to close the DGs I can’t help but recognize the value of the journalism we were all offered here.

Thank you Rebecca Nagle and the whole team behind this show, for making it. I have learned so much about indigenous history and tribes’ current struggles with the US government around sovereignty, land, and keeping cultures alive. It really hits me how I didn’t learn anything like this in school, and it should be required! The reporting and narrative style is really well done and very accessible. Thank you for the work you have put in to making this show, and letting a broader audience learn from Cherokee and Muskogee leaders.

Absolutely incredible dive into some of the indigenous history that needs to be taught to every person in this country.

The fact that Indigenous people are so heavily discriminated against in their homeland is atrocious. I would recommend this podcast to everyone and anyone who wants to hear social justice struggles told in a compelling way. Season 3 please Ms.Nagle!

I learned so much about Native issues from this podcast and should be a must listen for anybody who is interested in the intersection of Native rights and US law. The host’s snarky opinions and views are not well hidden during the podcast. The pod would be a better listen with a professional tone allowing the listener to hear the facts with an unbiased perspective so we can make up our minds. The topic is important and worthy of discussion and attention.

Thank you so much for doing this Rebecca. I am learning so much. This podcast should be required listening in every school in America and Canada too and the whole world. It’s clear that you have put tons of good work into this. It’s so well done and informative. Heart-breakingly so. I have only 4 episodes left to listen to.

As US citizens, it is imperative we understand the history of the indigenous people that were here long before our ancestors decided to show up. We aren’t taught these things in school, unfortunately, and we have to educate ourselves. Thankfully, this podcast helps with that, and it does it in a beautiful way. Take the time to listen, it’s worth it.

I really enjoy learning this topic. It’s hard to listen to your voice with its croak at the end of every sentence. You have a wonderful speaking voice you should just leave the croak out. But otherwise a great topic
